Salem News Channel (SNC) - Video/ Radio Producer

Location: Arlington, Virginia / DC

Salem Media's fast-growing Salem News Channel-featuring America's top conservative voices and straight news-seeks a versatile Video and Radio Producer for the Scott Jennings Show.

You'll wear many hats across pre-production, live production, and post. Ideal candidates live for news, thrive in the control room, and can direct, run prompter, guide talent, book guests, and coordinate a live show.

Responsibilities

Radio and Television Producer (Scott Jennings Show) Responsibilities

  • Content Development: Collaborate with the show's host and editorial team to conceptualize, research, and develop content for each episode. Monitor current political events, trends, and breaking news to inform content decisions.
  • Segment Planning: Plan and organize each episode's segments, interviews, and discussions. Work closely with guests, experts, and contributors to coordinate their participation in the show.
  • Scriptwriting: Write, edit, and review scripts (anything written out for hosts to read: ins and outs, ad reads, promotional material, or news reports) for the show, ensuring accuracy, clarity, and engaging storytelling.
  • Production Coordination: Manage the technical and logistical aspects of production, including coordination with camera operators, directors, and technical crews. Ensure smooth and efficient studio and broadcast operations.
  • Visual and Audio Elements: Oversee the selection and integration of graphics, images, video clips, and sound bites to enhance the show's visual and auditory impact.
  • Guest Booking: Identify, secure, and maintain relationships with high-profile guests, experts, and commentators to support ongoing and future programming.
  • Quality Control & Journalistic Integrity: Uphold rigorous standards by fact-checking content, ensuring balanced/unbiased reporting, and mitigating risks in politically sensitive topics.
  • Audience Engagement: Develop and implement strategies to engage the audience through social media, viewer feedback, and interactive on-air elements.
  • Deadline Management: Ensure all production deadlines are met and that episodes are completed and broadcast-ready on schedule.
  • Team Management: Oversee and streamline communication across hosts, editors, technical staff, and other production personnel. Distribute rundowns, video assets, guest information, and advertising reads to the appropriate contacts in a timely manner.
  • Situational Decision-Making: Make real-time editorial and production decisions during live broadcasts. This includes determining when to implement specific shots, pivoting away from technical or content failures, and mitigating issues related to technology, connectivity, or messaging that could disrupt the broadcast or compromise network objectives.
  • Relationship with Host: Create and maintain a vivid understanding between individuals, often anticipating needs before they materialize while commanding trust and respect.
