Construction Project Manager

Expected Salary Range: $120,000 - $140,000 per year

The Construction Project Manager will manage multiple aspects of classified and unclassified construction projects. Duties will include creation of bids and proposals, development of cost estimates, generation of project schedules, procurement of project materials, coordination of shipping of materials, and management of all aspects of the project from inception to completion. On occasion, the Construction Project Manager will also lead a crew of trades employees during a construction project on site, and the Construction Project Manager may also actively participate in construction activities.

Duties and Responsibilities / Essential Functions

  • Review, analyze, and respond to Invitations for Bids (IFBs), Requests for Proposals (RFPs), and Requests for Quotation (RFQs).
  • Lead creation of bids, proposals, and quotes in collaboration with company technical experts and technical writers.
  • Engage customers to clarify requirements and identify solutions.
  • Perform construction project material take-offs and create cost estimates.
  • Create accurate project schedules, identify critical paths, and appropriately mitigate schedule risk.
  • Create Bills of Materials (BOMs) and team with purchasing personnel to procure all materials for a construction project.
  • Develop project budgets and provide financial status updates to leadership.
  • Collaborate with logistics personnel to ensure all project materials are received, go through quality control procedures, and are packed appropriately for shipment.
  • Plan and oversee shipping of materials to ensure successful and timely delivery to project location.
  • Travel to construction sites at the kick-off of projects to ensure the superintendent understands scope of work and to ensure project is set up for success.
  • Manage project risks and implement mitigation plans.
  • Identify work that is out of scope and create change orders.
  • On occasion, lead construction crews globally to complete construction projects on time and within budgetary constraints.
  • On occasion, actively participate in physical construction of projects.
  • Ensure that project goals are accomplished in line with business objectives.
  • Use data and metrics to evaluate the performance of a project.
  • Mentor and coach junior project managers, engineers, and construction personnel.

Supervisory Responsibility

On occasion, the Construction Project Manager may be responsible to supervise a crew of trades employees during a construction project on site.

Work Environment

This job operates in professional office, workshop, production facility, and field environments which can include working near moving mechanical parts, non-weather wet or humid conditions, and extreme cold and heat. We operate inside and outside, in all weather conditions. This role routinely uses standard office equipment, hand tools, site equipment and vehicles, and is required to use and wear standard PPE, which will be provided by the company.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to twist, turn, bend, lift, kneel, climb, and stand. Regular lifting up to 75 lbs. may occur.

Position Type / Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time, salaried, exempt position. Standard days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. with weekends and extended hours as needed. Ability to work flexible hours including nights, holidays, and weekends will be required based on contract needs.

Travel

This position requires travel approximately one quarter of the year. Travel will be to project locations within the Continental United States (CONUS) and outside the continental United States (OCONUS) to include classified and hostile environments. Travel to company facilities in PA and NY will also be required.

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor of Science in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field.
  • 10+ years of experience managing construction and/or facilities renovation projects, to include:
    • Experience supporting government customers
    • Planning, design, budgeting, and hands-on construction experience

Work Authorization / Security Clearance

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a federal government security clearance.
  • Must be able to travel within the Continental United States (CONUS) and outside the Continental United States (OCONUS).
  • Must be able to pass federal contract OCONUS deployment requirements published by the US Government from time to time.
  • Must successfully pass pre-employment (post offer) background check.
  • Must successfully pass pre-employment (post offer) drug test and motor vehicle record review.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license compliant with REAL ID requirements.
