Job description

On-Site Bookkeeper / Office Manager (Plymouth County, MA)

Type: Full-Time | On-Site
Reports to: Owner / Finance Manager

About Us

Weโ€™re a small, fast-moving business based in Massachusetts. We care a lot about staying organized, keeping clean books, and making smart financial decisions.

Weโ€™re looking for a dependable, detail-oriented Bookkeeper who enjoys getting into the details, keeping things accurate, and helping a business run smoothly behind the scenes.

What Youโ€™ll Be Doing

In this role, youโ€™ll be the go-to person for day-to-day accounting and bookkeeping. Your work will help keep our finances clear, accurate, and up to date.
You'll:

  • Keep the general ledger updated and make sure transactions are properly recorded
  • Handle Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable (invoicing, payments, vendor bills, tracking balances)
  • Do monthly bank and credit card reconciliations and help sort out any discrepancies
  • Support payroll processing and coordinate with our payroll provider
  • Prepare monthly and quarterly reports (P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow)
  • Help track budgets vs. actuals and flag anything unusual or off-track
  • Maintain fixed asset records and depreciation schedules
  • Assist with sales tax, payroll tax filings, and other compliance needs
  • Work closely with our external accountant for year-end and tax preparation
  • Help improve bookkeeping processes and find ways to make things more efficient
What Weโ€™re Looking For
  • 2โ€“3+ years of hands-on bookkeeping experience (small business experience is a plus)
  • Strong experience with QuickBooks Online (required)
  • Comfortable using Excel (formulas, pivots, reconciliations)
  • Experience with journal entries, reconciliations, and month-end close
  • Understanding of accrual vs. cash accounting
  • Familiarity with payroll and basic tax filings (sales tax, payroll tax, 1099s)
  • High attention to detail and strong sense of confidentiality
  • Must be willing to work full-time on-site in Plymouth County
Nice to Have
  • Bookkeeping or accounting certification / QuickBooks certification
  • Experience with budgeting or financial reporting
  • Interest in improving workflows or using automation tools
  • Exposure to ERP systems or inventory-based accounting
Why Youโ€™ll Like Working Here
  • Stable, on-site role with clear day-to-day responsibilities
  • Small team where your work really matters and is seen
  • Opportunity to grow as the business grows
  • Hands-on exposure to the full bookkeeping cycle
  • A supportive environment where improvements and ideas are welcome
Compensation

$55,000 โ€“ $62,000 annually
