What is a Queue Manager?

A Queue Manager is a professional responsible for overseeing and managing the flow of people, tasks, or messages in various environments, such as customer service centers, events, or IT systems. In the context of IT, a Queue Manager often refers to software that handles the communication between different applications by managing message queues, ensuring data is delivered reliably and in order. In customer-facing roles, a Queue Manager organizes waiting lines, minimizes wait times, and enhances customer experience. The specific duties can vary depending on the industry, but the core responsibility is to keep processes running smoothly and efficiently.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Queue Manager, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Queue Manager, you need strong organizational skills, experience in customer service or operations, and often a background in business administration or hospitality. Familiarity with queue management systems, scheduling software, and sometimes CRM tools is typically required. Excellent communication, problem-solving abilities, and patience are crucial soft skills for handling high-traffic situations and ensuring customer satisfaction. These skills are important because they enable efficient crowd flow, minimize wait times, and create a positive experience for both customers and staff.

What are some common challenges Queue Managers face, and how can they effectively address them?

Queue Managers often encounter challenges such as balancing fluctuating customer volumes, managing wait times, and coordinating with multiple teams to maintain service efficiency. Effective communication, adaptability, and proactive monitoring of queue systems are essential to address these issues. By using data analytics to forecast busy periods and collaborating closely with staff, Queue Managers can optimize resource allocation and enhance the customer experience. Staying calm under pressure and implementing continuous process improvements also contribute to successful queue management.

Sunoco LP is a leading energy infrastructure and fuel distribution master limited partnership operating across 32 countries and territories in North America, the Greater Caribbean, and Europe. The Partnership’s midstream operations include an extensive network of approximately 14,000 miles of pipeline and over 160 terminals. This critical infrastructure complements the Partnership’s fuel distribution operations, which distribute over 15 billion gallons annually to approximately 11,000 Sunoco and partner-branded retail locations, as well as independent dealers and commercial customers.
At Sunoco, we take great pride in what we do and wholeheartedly believe our employees drive success for our company and our customers. We are always looking for the best and brightest talent and are committed to making your job a challenging and rewarding experience.

Competitive Benefits. Meaningful Extras. Unmatched Value.

  • A place where you can take your career in the direction you want to grow and go

The Opportunity:

We are seeking an experienced Salesforce Administrator to serve as the functional lead for our Salesforce org. This role owns the day-to-day configuration, support, maintenance, and continuous improvement of the platform, and works closely with other Salesforce team members in similar roles. The ideal candidate is comfortable leading with Flow and relies on standard Salesforce functionality over custom code.

Responsibilities:

  • Process Automation: Design, build, and maintain complex automated solutions using Salesforce Flow Builder.
  • Data & Analytics: Manage data imports and deduplication while building advanced reporting and dashboards to provide business visibility.
  • Security & Governance: Maintain the platform’s security integrity, including the sharing model, profiles, and permission sets.
  • User Support & Enablement: Act as the primary support contact, managing the ticket queue and conducting training for new features.

Education:

  • Certifications: Salesforce Certified Administrator and Platform App Builder.

Requirements:

  • 4+ years as a Salesforce Administrator
  • Strong understanding of the Salesforce security model, including roles, profiles, and permission sets.
  • Experience with Salesforce automation tools, with expert-level proficiency in Flow and Lightning Experience
  • Proven ability to maintain data quality, manage imports and deduplication, and build advanced reports and dashboards.
  • Hands-on experience with sandbox strategies and DevOps/deployment tools (e.g., Gearset, Copado, or Change Sets).
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to translate business requirements into effective technical solutions and collaborate with stakeholders at all levels.

Humble. Hungry. Smart. Does this sound like you?

Do others describe you as being a down-to-earth achiever? Someone who thinks outside the box and always strives to do more than what is required. Someone who sees the bigger picture? You sound brilliant to work with!

We Want You To Shine:

We are committed to providing equal opportunities to all applicants. If you require accommodation due to a disability, you will have an opportunity to notify us when scheduling your interview.

Belonging Matters. Because You Do:

We are an equal opportunity employer and encourage applications from all qualified individuals.

Our ability to work as one team across Canada, the United States and the Caribbean is foundational to our success. We show up as our authentic selves each day and create space for one another’s unique contributions.

We respect the diverse cultures, traditions and perspectives of Indigenous Peoples and seek to achieve equitable partnerships and opportunities with Indigenous communities.

The Fine Print:

Candidates must be legally eligible to work in the country in which they applied. Regrettably, we are unable to sponsor employment visas at this time.
