Job description

Registered Nurse

A professional nurse is accountable for the care of a group of patients. The Registered Nurse focuses on safe, effective patient and family-centered care, customer satisfaction, and quality outcomes. The RN is responsible for assisting in maintaining a financially stable unit and promoting personal development with an emphasis on evidence-based practice and education. The RN supervises licensed and non-licensed staff members. The RN is responsible for assessing, developing, implementing, and evaluating the plan of care using the caring processes of the Kristin M. Swanson Model of Care. The RN focuses on patient and family comfort, education, and satisfaction. The RN applies educational and professional experiences in the delivery of quality care and mentoring/precepting staff.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Performs assessments and reassessments per policy and procedure or as warranted by patient condition.
  • Demonstrates the ability to make sound independent decisions.
  • Initiates, prioritizes, and implements the plan of care and reviews and revises the plan as indicated.
  • Collaborates with patients, families, and interdisciplinary services.
  • Utilizes resources appropriately to support the needs of the organization, patient, and family.
  • Monitors and documents responses to clinical interventions.
  • Facilitates, coordinates, provides, and evaluates education specific to patient and family needs.
  • Delegates tasks to licensed and non-licensed personnel.
  • Functions as a mentor and preceptor.
  • Demonstrates, encourages, and facilitates teamwork.
  • Identifies and communicates opportunities for improvement.
  • Participates in quality, safety, and service process improvement efforts.
  • Complies with regulatory standards and participates in the Practice Governance model.
