Job Description

Overview:

We are looking for a Carpenter & Quality Control Technician to join our Edmonton Multi-Family Homes team. In this role where you play a key part in assuring our buildings meet high standards. You'll ensure construction quality, perform general carpentry tasks, and assist in finishing and repairs. Your work will contribute to our reputation for excellence.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform pre-backfill, framing, and mechanical inspections.

  • Use levels, rulers, plumb bobs, framing squares, and surveying equipment.

  • Liaise with municipal officials for code compliance.

  • Educate contractors on "Brookfield Best Practices" and quality techniques.

  • Train and mentor junior staff.

  • Document quality control checks and follow up on deficiencies.

  • Work from blueprints and instructions from managers.

  • Perform tasks such as layout, grading, and installing walls, floors, and roofs.

  • Select materials and use hand and power tools.

  • Install partitions, doors, windows, and perform light touch-ups on surfaces.

  • Support various construction operations and audit installed materials.

  • Participate in the Brookfield Safety Program.

  • Train junior staff and contractors on tool use and safety practices.

  • Conduct safety inspections and ensure safe site conditions.


Physical Requirements:

  • Walk on uneven terrain, climb stairs and ladders, lift up to 100 pounds.

  • Adequate vision and hearing. (aids are acceptable)


What You'll Bring:

  • 2+ years of carpentry experience or participation in a carpentry apprenticeship.

  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and computer skills.

  • Effective communication skills.

  • Relevant safety training certificates.

  • Ability to read blueprints.

  • Valid Driver's License and access to a vehicle.
