About the role
The QC Lead, along with the QC Team, is responsible for product inspection and testing, diagnosing the root cause of complaints, documenting, and processing returned products, with a focus on water coolers and filtration. This role ensures that products are evaluated accurately for defects, repaired when possible, and dispositioned according to company standards. The QC Lead will direct a team of quality technicians, enforce testing protocols, and serve as the primary liaison between the testing lab and the rest of the Quality Department.
What you'll do
  • Receive and Inspect Sample Products/Returns
    • Track returned products upon arrival
    • Diagnose the root cause issue for returns
    • Unpack returned units and visually inspect for physical damage (as needed)
    • Verify RMA (returned merchandise authorization)
  • Diagnose Product Issues
    • Test returned units and product samples for functional issues (cooling, heating, leaks, etc.)
    • Identify cosmetic vs. functional defects and document findings
    • Repair or Recondition Products
    • Clean and repackage units as needed (for resale, parts refurbish, or scrap)
    • Perform basic repairs if authorized (e.g., replacement of product components if in inventory)
  • Documentation & Reporting
    • Complete inspection logs and testing data
  • Coordinate with QA and CS (Customer Service) Teams
    • Report patterns of defects to Quality leadership/CS
    • Communicate any missing parts or customer misuse to QA Management
  • Support Warehouse Operations
    • Maintain organized work area (5S)
    • Support inventory reconciliation for returns stock

Qualifications
  • Associates degree or higher education required
  • 2-3 years of product testing experience
  • Demonstrated ability to personally operate lab instruments and execute test protocols
  • Basic mechanical aptitude and familiarity with small appliances
  • Comfortable working on a warehouse floor in a physically active role: standing, lifting, and performing repetitive test procedures.
  • A Strong attention to detail and ability to follow SOPs/work with a system
  • Strong organizational skills, ability to work in fast-paced environment
  • Basic computer skills (email, word, spreadsheets, ERP/RMA entry)

Preferred Skills
  • Familiarity with water cooler function and parts (compressor, heating tank, etc.)
  • Experience with handheld tools and multimeters
  • ASQ Certified Quality Technician (CQT) or Certified Quality Inspector (CQI).
