Startec Refrigeration Serviceย is focused on solving your field refrigeration and HVAC challenges and is one of the most trusted and respected names in commercial, and industrial refrigeration, and HVAC system installation and maintenance.ย  We service cold storage, meat packing, food processing and recreational ice facilities throughout Western Canada.
POSITION OVERVIEW:
Startec Refrigeration Service is currently recruiting for aย Commercial Refrigeration/HVAC Mechanicย to work at ourย Lethbridge, Albertaย location (106 Broxburn Blvd, Lethbridge, AB).ย ย This role offers the opportunity to further develop expertise in refrigeration system service, installation, troubleshooting, and maintenance while contributing to a collaborative, safety-focused environment.

The base pay range for Apprenticeships to Journeypersonโ€™s rates are $26.95 to $59.17 per hourย (depending on years of experience and supplemental rates/premiums).ย  Dual ticket premiums may also apply.
KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS (KPI):
TECHNICAL EXPERTISE & OPERATIONAL DUTIES (Weighting 60%)System Maintenance, Repair and Installation
  • Installation of welded, threaded, and/or brazed refrigeration piping systems.
  • Conduct start-ups, inspections, troubleshooting, and preventative maintenance for refrigeration/HVAC systems, resolving system issues as needed.
  • Complete regulatory paperwork regarding refrigerant release, ABSA, CFIA, etc.
Problem Resolution
  • Troubleshoot refrigeration/HVAC electrical control systems and perform necessary repairs.
  • Perform all work in compliance with the Quality Control and Health & Safety program.
  • Take on additional duties as required to support job functions.
SERVICE EXCELLENCE (Weighting 40%)Customer-Focused Service
  • Deliver exceptional customer service with professionalism, competence, and integrity.
  • Ensure accurate and timely completion of paperwork and reports to facilitate prompt invoicing and support customer and company needs
Teamwork and Safety
  • Prioritize workplace safety by adhering to all safety protocols and fostering a secure environment for colleagues and clients.
  • Collaborate effectively within a team-oriented environment.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Apprenticeship or Journeyman certification or equivalent in HVAC refrigeration mechanics.
  • Basic computer skills required (MS Office Applications)
  • Class A Gas Fitting, Electrician/Sheetmetal, and/or Hydronic experience is an asset
  • Strong customer service and relationship-building skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions.
  • Effective communication skills and ability to work in a team.
  • Willingness to learn and develop technical skills through on-the-job training.
  • Class 5 Driverโ€™s License with a clean Driver's Abstract
  • Ability to work independently and on-call.
  • Ability to work out of town. Travel and overnight stays may be required from time to time.
