ABOUT THE ROLEย 
The Quality Control Supervisor is responsible for all quality functions for three Ready Mix plants and two Aggregate pits in Southern Alberta. The individual will report directly to the Southern Alberta Manager and work daily with operations and plant managers ensuring product excellence.ย 

WHAT YOU'LL ACCOMPLISH

  • Test and verify concrete and aggregate products during production, ensuring compliance with CSA standards.
  • Work closely with ready mix drivers, batchers and operations to provide guidance on mix designs, slumps, air content and related specifications.
  • Analyze and design concrete mixes.
  • Review of project specification and structural drawings, prepare and submit mix designs to customers.
  • Identify and report any deficiencies in product quality and develop corrective action plans.
  • Work with specification writers, engineering consultants, architects, government agencies and customers to open lines of communication between these groups and Amrize and to promote products and services.
  • Complete annual Concrete Alberta certification requirements.
  • Responsible for hiring, training and managing additional Quality Control Technicians.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to health, safety and environmental policies in all work environments and areas. Promote a culture of safety and exhibit these behaviors.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
Education: College Diploma or University Degree preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
Field of Study Preferred: Civil Engineering
Required Work Experience:ย 2 years' experience working in quality control/construction field. Experience working in the concrete industry is preferred.
Required Training/Certifications: ACI Concrete Field Testing Technician or CCIL Concrete Certification is preferred.
Required Technical Skills: MS Office.
Travel Requirements: 0-20%

  • Strong analytical, written and verbal communication skills with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Technically sound in the areas of ready mix, concrete, cement and aggregates.
  • Self-motivated, able to quickly build and maintain positive working relationships.
  • Strong sales ability, can quickly understand customer needs and provide solutions.
  • Must be physically fit and able to work long hours as required.
  • Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Amrize approved Personal Protection Equipment ("PPE"), including but not limited to respirators. Employees that are required to wear respirators must be clean shaven where the respirator seal meets the face in order to pass the qualitative and quantitative fit tests.
