The Simulation Operations Specialist role will provide support to Purdue University Global's
School of Nursing. Building on Purdue University's mission to provide greater access to

learning community wherein faculty and staff contribute to and engage in instructional
best practice for adult learners in an innovative, nontraditional university setting.
Successful candidates in this role will reside in the Anamosa, IA, area or within a
commutable distance. The clinical site is located at The Center for Healthcare Education
and Simulation 1795 IA-64, Anamosa, IA 52205.
Job Summary:
The Simulation Operation Specialist has responsibility for the installation, maintenance,
and general operation of sophisticated high, mid, and low fidelity simulation equipment,
task trainers, audio-visual equipment, and computers used in the training of healthcare
professionals. This role provides exceptional customer service, including the ability to
express technical information effectively to non-technical persons. The Simulation
Operations Specialist has knowledge of and experience with clinical training equipment
and simulation lab operations. The role reports to the Academic Program Head in
Anamosa.
What to expect in this role:
• Simulation Maintenance:
• Operate and maintain simulation equipment, task trainers, computerized
simulators, audio-video recording systems, and virtual reality procedural trainers
with the ability to follow medical aspects of scenarios, and make appropriate
adjustments to technology systems..
• Set up and maintain the simulation lab, classroom and manage lab supplies.
• Perform program maintenance and repair of the simulators, software, hardware,
and audiovisual equipment.
• Collaborates with vendors for maintenance and repair of equipment, including the
implementation of hardware or software updates.
• Faculty & Student Support:
• Collaborates with clinical faculty during simulations and learning activities.
• Responsible for the ongoing support of simulation faculty during simulation.
• Provide appropriate guidance to students in the simulation setting related to
professionalism.
• Operations & Curriculum Support:
• Oversee daily operations at the simulation center by maintaining regular
communication with their manager.
• Maintain current knowledge of the Nursing curriculum, policies, and requirements.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• May include occasional travel to support professional development opportunities
and required training or to other Purdue Global simulation centers to assist with
operational needs.
• Act as a standardized patient (actor in the role of a patient) when needed.
Experience:
• Some higher education. Bachelor's Degree preferred and/or comparable experience.
• 0-1 years of experience.
• Interest in healthcare simulation and customer service experience.
What we're looking for:
• Ability to learn simulation equipment/ basic nursing equipment.
• Valid drivers license in the state of employment and surrounding states.
• Demonstrated proficiency with MS Office suite software, such as MS Word, Excel and
Powerpoint, as well as Google applications such as Gmail, Chat and Meet.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, balance competing demands for
time, and prioritize workload to meet deadlines.
• Effective analytical skills with the ability to assess situations, resolve issues or make
recommendations as appropriate.
• Effective oral and written communication skills, with the ability to adapt communication
style and method to suit different audiences.
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively communicate with a professional
demeanor with people at all levels within the organization.
• Valid driver's license in the state of employment (Iowa) and surrounding states
