Job description

Purpose

Monitor and maintain inventory control-related activities and work closely with warehouse operations staff to ensure documented processes are followed when completing inventory transactions. The Inventory Control Specialist will investigate discrepancies in inventory records to determine necessary corrections, identify areas for improvement, and implement improved processes as needed.

Areas of Responsibility / Tasks

Performance must reflect an appropriate level of expertise and achievement of desired results.

Essential Functions
  • Practice principles of food safety, quality, and continuous improvement under GFSI guidelines
  • Monitor, investigate, and adjust all quantity, cost, and lot discrepancies
  • Reconcile inventory monthly at third-party warehouses
  • Enter shipping feedback for third-party warehouses
  • Maintain Chempax inventory files
  • Complete work orders (repack)
  • Complete in-transit receiving (transfers)
  • Enter new products in Chempax; edit and update item master files
  • Monitor and conduct cycle counts
  • Assist with year-end inventory at all facilities
  • Complete downgrade (damaged product) reports as needed
  • Coordinate and oversee daily receiving and shipping at 3PW and SMI locations
  • Assist with year-end SARA Title III reporting
  • Communicate effectively with all levels of management, personnel, and customers
  • Demonstrate strong customer service skills
  • Manage and prioritize multiple projects amid conflicting operational demands
  • Assist with bank audits and cost testing
  • Assist with warehouse service contracts and monthly invoicing
  • Ensure DOT/EPA compliance for new products

Minimum QualificationsEducation
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Some college-level business courses required
  • Equivalent experience may be considered in lieu of degree
Experience
  • 5+ years of experience in a warehouse, chemical purchasing, or supply chain environment
  • 3+ years of experience in an inventory planning capacity
  • Experience handling chemical or hazardous materials preferred
  • Forklift and hazardous material certifications helpful
Systems Experience
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel)
  • Ability to learn Datacor
Licenses / Certifications
  • None required
Language
  • English proficiency required
  • Bilingual (Spanish or Portuguese) preferred
Work Environment / Conditions
  • Work performed indoors and outdoors
  • Exposure to extreme heat (over 100°F for extended periods)
  • Exposure to vibration
  • Exposure to hazards including moving machinery, vehicles, electrical current, heights, heat, and chemicals
