Job description

The Pump Specialist is a technical sales and business development role focused on growing pump sales across assigned territories. This position works closely with branch sales teams, customers, and pump manufacturers to identify opportunities, solve technical challenges, and expand Harrington’s pump footprint. The ideal candidate blends technical pump knowledge with a consultative sales approach and thrives in a relationship-driven environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and execute a Sales Opportunity Plan targeting new and existing customers with the highest potential for pump sales growth.
  • Serve as a technical resource for customers and internal teams, providing pump application support and problem-solving expertise.
  • Transition established pump accounts to branch sales teams once consistent purchasing patterns are established.
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with branch personnel across the assigned territory.
  • Establish and maintain productive partnerships with pump manufacturers and vendors.
  • Conduct product seminars, branch-level pump training, and participate in trade shows, open houses, and industry events as needed.
  • Maintain detailed call activity, customer information, project opportunities, and itineraries within Harrington’s CRM system.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree (B.A./B.S.) or 3–5 years of hands-on experience working with pump systems or related technical products; equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.
  • Strong working knowledge of pump systems, technical specifications, and applications.
  • Understanding of scientific, engineering, electronics, and mathematical principles related to pump design and performance.
  • Ability to translate technical concepts into clear, customer-focused solutions.
  • Strong communication, organization, and relationship-building skills.
  • Comfortable working independently while collaborating closely with branch teams and manufacturers.
