Job description

Your role

Product Company Indiana, part of Atlas Copco Industrial Vacuum Division, aims to lead in engineered pumps and systems with excellent delivery and customer service. As a Applications Engineer, you provide prompt pricing and technical support to Sales and Marketing, reporting to the Applications Team Lead.

You will

  • Respond to internal and approved external inquiries on pricing and delivery.
  • Assist in selecting suitable products by performing equipment sizing calculations.
  • Provide first-line technical support and documentation for Atlas Copco products.
  • Collaborate with internal departments and suppliers to create quotes for non-standard products.
  • Review specifications and prepare quotations, documenting exceptions or clarifications.
  • Analyze customer specifications and translate requirements into costing and offers.
  • Make initial product selections meeting customer specifications.
  • Calculate pump capacity based on process conditions, including gas mixes.
  • Prepare technical proposals with system design, cost estimates, and lead times.
  • Support sales with technical assistance during offers.
  • Conduct kickoff meetings to hand over projects to Project Engineers.
  • Coordinate order entry as needed.
  • Interact with vendors for supplied parts.
  • Ensure profitability and processability of projects and orders.
  • Provide guidance to other applications engineers.
  • Lead in the absence of the Application Team Lead.

You have

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical, Mechanical or Industrial Engineering or other technical degree required; equivalent experience may be substituted.
  • 1- 2 years of experience, working as a Sales/Engineer with rotating equipment manufacturer preferred.
  • Displays a strong mechanical ability.
  • Requires high level of interaction among peers and others.
  • Ability to learn quickly.
  • Must have proactive organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple customer requirements in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must be able to identify and work within deadlines with the capacity to work independently.
  • Demonstrates the ability to own customer requests and follow them to completion.
  • Strong written and verbal English language communication skills.
  • Capable of communicating to a technical or non-technical audience.
  • Requires the ability to use good judgment and discretion.
  • Must have strong organizational skills.
  • Understands financial aspects of optimizing profits.
  • Knowledge of pumps and pumping systems, system calculations, life cycle costs, etc.
  • Knowledge of various industry standards (HEI, ANSI, ISO, etc.) for pumps.
  • Knowledge of rotating equipment/drivetrain preferred.
  • Ability to work with detailed specifications and industry standards.
  • Understands financial aspects of optimizing profits.
  • Proficiency in ERP systems and Microsoft Office.
  • Knowledge of company product, customers and vendors (as acquired through experience) preferred.
  • Understanding of competition in various markets and regions preferred.
