How much do public trust jobs pay per year?

As of Jul 31, 2026, the average yearly pay for public trust in the United States is $64,777.00, according to ZipRecruiter salary data. Most workers in this role earn between $62,000.00 and $72,500.00 per year, depending on experience, location, and employer.

What jobs pay 4000 a week without a degree?

Public Trust roles typically require security clearances and relevant experience rather than high weekly pay without a degree. However, some high-paying jobs such as commercial pilots, real estate brokers, or sales managers can earn around $4,000 weekly through commissions or salaries, often requiring specialized skills, certifications, or experience rather than formal degrees. These roles may involve irregular hours, high responsibility, or specific industry knowledge.

What is a Public Trust position?

A Public Trust position is a type of federal job that requires a background check to ensure the employee is trustworthy and reliable, as they may have access to sensitive information or systems. Unlike security clearances, Public Trust designations are used for positions that don't require access to classified information but still involve significant risk to the agency or the public if misused. Employees in these roles typically handle sensitive but unclassified data and must undergo a thorough background investigation before being hired.

What is a public trust for a job?

A public trust is a background check process used for certain government jobs to assess an applicant's integrity, reliability, and character. It often involves a review of financial history, criminal records, and personal conduct to determine suitability for positions with access to sensitive information or resources.

Is SOC an entry level job?

A Security Operations Center (SOC) analyst role is typically not entry-level and often requires some experience in cybersecurity, network monitoring, or related fields. Entry-level positions may be available for those with basic knowledge of security tools, certifications like CompTIA Security+ or Cisco CCNA, and strong analytical skills. Advancement usually involves gaining experience and additional certifications in cybersecurity.

Is a public trust clearance hard to get?

Public trust clearance is a background check process used for positions involving sensitive but non-classified information. It typically involves reviewing employment history, criminal records, and financial stability, and can take several weeks to months to obtain depending on the complexity of the background check and the applicant's history.

What is the difference between Public Trust vs Security Clearance?

AspectPublic TrustSecurity Clearance
Required CredentialsBackground check, employment history, credit checkIn-depth background investigation, polygraph (for some roles), detailed security screening
Work EnvironmentGovernment offices, contractors, federal agenciesSimilar settings, often more sensitive or classified environments
Employer & Industry UsageFederal agencies, contractors, public sectorFederal government, defense, intelligence agencies
Comparison Search IntentUnderstanding background checks for non-sensitive rolesAccess to classified or sensitive information

Public Trust and Security Clearance are both background checks used in federal employment. Public Trust is for positions with lower sensitivity, focusing on background and integrity. Security Clearance involves more rigorous investigations for roles handling classified information. While they share some requirements, Security Clearance provides access to more sensitive data, whereas Public Trust is for roles with public trust but less security risk.

What are some common challenges faced by professionals working in roles that require a Public Trust clearance?

Professionals in positions requiring a Public Trust clearance often face unique challenges, such as navigating rigorous background checks and maintaining strict adherence to ethical standards and confidentiality protocols. Additionally, they may experience added pressure to consistently demonstrate trustworthiness and reliability, as any breach of policy can impact both their career and the organization's reputation. Regular training and communication with security personnel are essential to stay updated on compliance requirements. Team members in these roles often collaborate closely with supervisors and compliance officers to ensure all standards are met.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in a Public Trust position, and why are they important?

To thrive in a Public Trust position, you need a solid background in your professional field, a clean background check, and adherence to ethical standards, typically supported by relevant education and work experience. Familiarity with information security protocols, government systems, and successful completion of Public Trust clearance processes is often required. Integrity, reliability, attention to detail, and strong communication skills set candidates apart in these roles. These qualities are crucial for maintaining public confidence, protecting sensitive information, and ensuring compliance with government regulations.
