Essential Functions:
Provides high quality customer service
Assists library staff and serves patrons as a resource in a specified area
Plans programs, classes and activities for patrons and staff
Prepares resources and materials for patron use
Completes special projects
Assists patrons with locating library materials and use of library resources including technology
Leads Library Assistants L/U, Library Clerks L/U and Library Pages L/U
Provides community librarianship to engage patrons through education outreach services
Desirables: Experience in developing and providing programming and outreach to youth and families.
Examples of Duties
Examples of Work:
UNDER GENERAL SUPERVISION
Advises and assists patrons on the selection, organization and interpretation of library materials
Participates in book selection for one or more major subject matter fields
Drives and works on Bookmobile
Plans, develops and conducts original programs and special projects
Serves as lead and resource person to Library Assistants L/U, Library Clerks L/U, and Library Pages L/U
Performs Library Assistant L/U, Library Page L/U and Library Clerk L/U duties as required
Assists in implementing special projects
Answers questions in person and using all types of communication media
Makes presentations to community groups and schools, and directs tours of the library
Conducts Research

Minimum Requirements
Physical Requirements & Working Conditions:
Meets regular and punctual attendance standards and any special needs of the position as determined by management, including mandatory overtime and performing related work
Communicates with individuals in person and utilizes all types of communication media
Travels to various locations
Reviews information in both print and electronic formats
Spends prolonged periods of time sitting, standing, walking, carrying, stooping, squatting and climbing
Lifts and carries items weighing up to 35 pounds
Operates office and computer equipment and other technology
Minimum Requirements:
Master's degree

Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license
Must work a varied schedule
Must be certified as a Public Librarian in the State of Kentucky (KRS 171.250).

Master's degree in other field deemed appropriate by department management for area of assignment
