Public Health Nurse (RN) - Community Health & HIV/STD Services

Location: Raleigh, NC
Contract Length: 26 Weeks
Schedule: Full-Time, 40 Hours per Week
Start Date: August 17, 2026

Position Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Public Health Nurse (RN) to join a community-focused healthcare team in Raleigh, NC. The Public Health Nurse is responsible for promoting and protecting the health of the community through disease prevention, health education, treatment, and care coordination. This position will work closely with the HIV/STD Outreach Team and provide clinical support across community-based testing and outreach locations.

The ideal candidate will be passionate about serving diverse populations and committed to improving access to healthcare services throughout the community.

Essential Responsibilities
  • Provide public health nursing services focused on health promotion and disease prevention.
  • Work alongside the HIV/STD Outreach Team to support community health initiatives.
  • Administer treatment for chlamydia and gonorrhea under standing orders.
  • Coordinate care with the clinical team for syphilis, HIV, and Hepatitis C cases.
  • Ensure appropriate follow-up care and linkage to services for clients.
  • Provide clinical oversight and guidance to unlicensed assistive personnel.
  • Collaborate with Community Testing Counselors, Health Educators, Community Health Workers, Case Managers, and Bridge Counselors.
  • Educate patients and community members on prevention, treatment, and available resources.
  • Maintain compliance with public health regulations, nursing standards, and organizational policies.
Schedule Details

This position supports both daytime and evening clinic operations.

  • Evening clinic is held every Tuesday and Thursday from 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM.
  • Staff participate in a rotating evening clinic schedule.
  • Flexible scheduling is provided to accommodate evening clinic coverage.
  • Employees are expected to adjust their weekly schedule to account for evening hours worked.
Minimum Requirements
  • Active Nursing Licensure in the state of practice.
  • Two (2) years of public health or community health experience preferred.
  • Related HIV/STD experience required.
