Interns typically work in clinics, hospitals, schools, or private practices under the guidance of licensed psychologists. The internship provides practical experience with various testing instruments, including cognitive, personality, and neuropsychological tests. It also helps interns develop skills in report writing, ethical test administration, and communicating results to clients or other professionals.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Psychological Testing Intern, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Psychological Testing Intern, you generally need coursework in psychology, familiarity with assessment methods, and enrollment in a relevant graduate program. Experience with psychological testing tools such as the MMPI, WAIS, and scoring software, as well as knowledge of APA ethical standards, is common. Strong attention to detail, confidentiality, and effective communication are vital soft skills for building trust and ensuring accurate results. These competencies are essential for supporting licensed psychologists, maintaining ethical standards, and delivering reliable assessments in clinical or research settings.

What types of tasks and responsibilities can I expect during a Psychological Testing Internship?

As a Psychological Testing Intern, you will typically assist with administering, scoring, and interpreting psychological assessments under the supervision of licensed psychologists.
