Job description

Field Application Engineer – Power Supply

Compensation: $85K-$95K DOE

Location: Fremont, CA

We are seeking a Field Application Engineer to support customers with the design, integration, and optimization of Phihong’s power supply solutions. This role bridges product design and customer support, playing a key role in both technical problem-solving and product development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a technical liaison between customers and internal engineering teams
  • Support customer design-in activities for PSU products (AC-DC, DC-DC converters, adapters, etc.)
  • Provide in-depth product knowledge and assist customers in selecting appropriate power supply solutions
  • Conduct schematic reviews, PCB layout guidance, and thermal management consultation
  • Perform lab testing, troubleshooting, and failure analysis of PSU systems
  • Develop and present technical documents, application notes, and product training materials
  • Collaborate with R&D teams to improve existing products based on customer feedback and market needs
  • Participate in product definition, validation, and design reviews
  • Travel to customer sites (as needed) to support design activities and resolve issues

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field
  • 3+ years of experience in Power Supply, preferably with PSU design and/or FAE responsibilities
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to analyze
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills; bilingual in Mandarin is a plus
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally
