Job description

Title: Assistant Group Leader
Reports To: Program Director, PS 32
Location: 420 Union Street, Brooklyn, New York 11231
Hours: Up to 20 hours/Week; Non-Exempt;
Schedule: School Year / September - June / Monday - Friday, 2pm to 6pm
Salary: $17.00 / hour
Job Summary: The Assistant Group Leader supports and assists staff in carrying out all planned educational and enrichment activities for the after-school enrichment and recreational program.
Major Duties:
  • Assist the group leader with engaging activities, including sports and recreation, educational, arts and craft and special events
  • Collect attendance folder and other data as necessary
  • Supervise participants throughout afterschool program
  • Distribute snacks and assist with clean-up
  • Assist with monitoring and maintaining the rules of the program and upholding the afterschool model
  • Support activity instructor(s) with lessons.
  • Collaborate with group leader to ensure a safe and supportive environment.
  • Follows all GSS, DYCD and SACC regulations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Must demonstrate reliable and consistent work habits, and ability to work with other youth.
  • Must be available during the program hours listed above.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability and willingness to work in a dynamic team environment.
  • Must have a commitment to work from a strength-based and/or youth development perspective.
