Job description

The Charlotte Hornets are seeking energetic, dependable, and detail-oriented Game Day Assistant to support the Game Presentation team during Charlotte Hornets home games. This part-time, event-based role assists with pregame, in-game, and postgame execution, including fan engagement promotions, timeout contests, game-day props, giveaways, and other presentation elements. Game Day Assistant will serve as an important on-site support resource and are expected to communicate clearly, respond quickly to changing needs, and help deliver a seamless and engaging game-night experience for fans, contestants, and internal staff.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist with organizing and facilitating pregame and postgame fan engagement promotions and activations.
  • Coordinate with Game Presentation staff on timeout logistics, contest rules, timing, and setup locations.
  • Assist with the setup, placement, and breakdown of back-of-house, tunnel, courtside, and other game-day props.
  • Distribute game-day giveaways throughout designated areas of the arena as assigned.
  • Distribute Thunder Sticks to designated seating sections during the second half when required in support of halftime programming.
  • Serve as a reliable point of communication on headset, providing timely updates and logistical information to Game Presentation staff.
  • Assist with identifying and selecting contestants for upcoming timeout contests.
  • Clearly explain contest rules, expectations, staging instructions, and participation requirements to selected contestants before they take part.
  • Help escort contestants and participants to designated staging and performance areas as needed.
  • Respond quickly and professionally to changing game-night needs and assignments in a fast-paced live-event environment.
  • Maintain game-day materials, props, and work areas in an organized and professional manner
  • Perform other game presentation and event support duties as assigned.

Required Skills, Experience, and Abilities

  • Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Dependable and punctual, with the ability to follow instructions and complete assignments with attention to detail.
  • Comfortable communicating over headset and providing clear, concise updates in a live-event environment.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and collaborate with Game Presentation staff and other event personnel.
  • Ability to interact professionally and enthusiastically with fans, contestants, performers, and internal staff.
  • Ability to remain composed, flexible, and responsive in a fast-paced environment where assignments and timing may change quickly.
  • Comfortable working in public-facing areas of the arena and helping create a positive fan experience.
  • Ability to stand and move throughout the arena for extended periods and assist with the setup, movement, and breakdown of game-day materials and props.
  • Must be available to work Charlotte Hornets home games, including nights, weekends, and holidays, based on the game schedule.
  • Previous experience in live events, sports entertainment, guest services, promotions, or game presentation is preferred but not required.
