Job description

POSITION TITLE: Horticulture setup & Teardown Staff

STATUS: Hourly, non-exempt

COMPENSATION: $13.00 hourly

LOCATION: Doswell, Virginia – State Fair of Virginia

REPORTS TO: Horticulture Superintendent

THE ROLE: This role under the guidance of the Horticulture Superintendent provides the labor for setup/teardown of props and displays along with general cleanup.

PRIMARY DUTIES:

  • Move props
  • Assist in loading & unloading displays and entries
  • Assist in Maintain a clean and organized display area
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs

ADDITIONAL DUTIES:

  • Other duties as assigned by Horticulture Superintendent

POSITION: Entry Level

EDUCATIONAL & EXPERIENCE:

  • High school diploma or equivalent

MINIMUM SKILL QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and take direction
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Ability to work well with all levels of internal management and staff, as well as outside clients and vendors.
  • Punctuality
  • Ability to work multiple days in a row
  • Applicant must be available September 21 – 24 & October 5 - 8, 2026

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
