Job description

The Office of the Dean of the College and Graduate School of Arts & Sciences is seeking student workers to assist the College's Marketing and Communications Team as Content Producers during the 2026-2027 Academic Year. This position will involve planning and executing content (photos, reels, stories, etc.) for the Arts & Sciences social media platforms, primarily Instagram and Facebook, as well as helping to conduct on-camera interviews with students on Grounds for video content with members of the A&S Content Team. Content Producers will also help capture student events and other relevant activities and content opportunities on Grounds, primarily through iPhone photos and videos.


This position is ideal for students looking to gain experience with content production, social media account management, higher education marketing, photography, videography, video editing, copy writing and graphic design.

Key Responsibilities

  • Meet with the Arts & Sciences Content Team weekly to brainstorm content ideas, plan for coverage opportunities and discuss overall social media strategy.
  • Help facilitate and conduct interviews on Grounds with other students for video content with members of the A&S Content Team.
  • Pursue individual content opportunities, capturing photo and video of student events and activities in the form of photo and video and posting to the A&S Instagram story.

Qualifications

  • Current UVA undergraduate student in good academic standing
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Reliable, punctual and responsive
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively
  • Ability to be flexible and adaptable in a changing, fast-paced environment
  • Comfortable on camera
  • Prior experience with social media management and content production preferred but not required
  • Prior expertise with photography and videography welcome but not required
  • Familiarity with editing software (Adobe Premiere, CapCut, Final Cut, etc.) encouraged but not required
  • Familiarity with graphic design and photo editing software (Canva, Photoshop, Illustrator, Adobe Express, etc.) encouraged but not required

Time Commitment
Estimate 8-10 hours of labor each week but may vary depending on coverage demands and opportunities for academic year 2026-2027.

Compensation

  • Student Assistants $17.50 an hour
  • Student Managers $20.00 an hour

Work Environment

  • Weekly meetings with members of the Content Team on the fifth floor of New Cabell Hall
  • Go on Grounds with members of the Content Team to help conduct video interviews with students
  • Capture student events and activities on Grounds
