The Business Development Manager owns the development of new business opportunities that drive long-term growth for Prestige. This role is responsible for identifying prospective customers, creating qualified sales opportunities, strengthening relationships with existing accounts, and supporting the sales organization through proactive outreach and lead generation.
In addition to business development responsibilities, this role also provides inside sales support by assisting with quoting, proposal development, presentation construction, customer follow-up, and internal sales coordination as business demands require.
This position reports directly to the VP of Strategy & Engineering. The Business Development Manager works closely with the Director of Outside Sales to develop and qualify new opportunities and collaborates with the Director of Inside Sales to support quoting, proposal development, and project execution as business demands require.
Success in this role requires strong communication skills, organization, persistence, technical curiosity, and the ability to build relationships while balancing multiple priorities.
Core Ownership Areas

1. Business Development & Prospecting

You own the proactive generation of new business opportunities for Prestige.
You are responsible for:
  • Identifying and researching prospective customers within target industries and markets 
  • Developing and executing outbound prospecting campaigns through phone calls, email, LinkedIn, networking, and referrals 
  • Scheduling qualified meetings for Outside Sales representatives 
  • Building relationships with decision-makers before projects are actively bidding 
  • Maintaining a consistent pipeline of qualified opportunities 
  • Supporting strategic account development initiatives 
  • Tracking prospecting activity and pipeline metrics within CRM 
  • Continuously identifying new markets, industries, and opportunities for growth 

2. Lead Qualification & Sales Pipeline Management

You own the early stages of the sales process.
You are responsible for:
  • Qualifying inbound and outbound opportunities 
  • Understanding customer needs before transferring opportunities to Outside Sales 
  • Coordinating discovery conversations 
  • Maintaining accurate CRM records and opportunity status 
  • Following up consistently with prospects throughout the sales cycle 
  • Helping ensure opportunities continue moving through the sales pipeline 
  • Supporting forecasting through accurate pipeline management 

3. Customer Relationship Development

You own the development of strong relationships with prospective and existing customers.
You are responsible for:
  • Serving as an initial point of contact for prospective customers 
  • Building trust through responsiveness and professionalism 
  • Maintaining regular communication with inactive and existing customers 
  • Identifying additional opportunities within existing accounts 
  • Supporting customer retention through proactive relationship management 
  • Representing Prestige professionally in meetings, trade shows, networking events, and customer visits

4. Inside Sales Support

You provide inside sales support to ensure opportunities continue moving efficiently through the organization.
You are responsible for:
  • Assisting with quote development and proposal preparation 
  • Obtaining vendor pricing when required 
  • Supporting proposal revisions and customer follow-up 
  • Coordinating internal communication between Sales, Engineering, Operations, and vendors 
  • Assisting with project documentation and sales administration 
  • Supporting order processing and project coordination as assigned 
  • Providing coverage for Inside Sales responsibilities when workload requires
  • Following up on quotations and proposals to maintain momentum and improve close rates
  • Developing datasets (Excel), presentations (PowerPoint), and drawings (CAD) to support projects

5. CRM Management & Sales Administration

You own the accuracy and consistency of customer information and sales activity documentation.
You are responsible for:
  • Maintaining accurate customer, contact, opportunity, and activity records within HubSpot
  • Recording prospecting activity, meetings, follow-up tasks, and opportunity updates 
  • Supporting reporting related to pipeline development and business development activity 
  • Ensuring customer information remains organized and current 
  • Helping improve CRM processes and sales workflows 

6. Market Intelligence & Strategic Growth

You own gathering market information that helps Prestige grow strategically.
You are responsible for:
  • Monitoring industry trends and customer activity 
  • Identifying competitive opportunities

You are responsible for:
  • Working closely with Outside Sales on prospect strategy and account development 
  • Supporting the Director of Inside Sales on quoting and project coordination 
  • Coordinating with Engineering and Operations to understand customer requirements 
  • Participating in sales meetings and strategic planning discussions 
  • Communicating customer feedback throughout the organization 
  • Supporting continuous improvement of sales processes and customer experience
