Working Title: Facilities Maintenance Supervisor
Hourly Pay Range: $35-$40
Job Type: Temporary; Minimum of 32 hours weekly, with the opportunity for more.
Job Summary
This position is responsible for skilled work in supervising and performing maintenance and repair of buildings and facilities. The candidate must be a self-starter and strong team member. Excellent customer service is an essential component; therefore, the candidate must possess experience and willingness to be a strong customer service agent.
Illustrative Duties
โ€ข Supervises and participates in the work of maintenance personnel engaged in maintenance, repair,
โ€ข remodeling and renovation of various buildings and facilities.
โ€ข Assures that work is performed in accordance with accepted trade practices and in a safe manner with
โ€ข little waste of time and materials.
โ€ข Assigns work requests and schedules work within the Lucity computerized maintenance management
โ€ข system.
โ€ข Reads blueprints and/or sketches. Lays out work to be performed.
โ€ข Orders materials and assures that correct construction methods are utilized.
โ€ข Coordinates work with sub-contractors and reviews materials and workmanship.
โ€ข Makes sure that work and materials conform to building codes.
โ€ข Plans renovations and modifications of buildings and structures.
โ€ข Estimates time, materials, and costs.
โ€ข Maintains records and makes reports as required.
โ€ข Confers with divisions regarding the maintenance needs and problems.
โ€ข Makes recommendations for the routine renovation and building maintenance projects.
โ€ข May be assigned to other county locations based upon operational needs.
โ€ข Attends work on a regular and consistent basis.
โ€ข Must adhere to Federal , State, County and Local ordinances.
โ€ข Responds to emergency situations.
โ€ข Must be able to work during disasters with assigned duties and areas.
โ€ข Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements
High School diploma or possession of GED and four (4) years of experience in general building trades including some experience as a foreman or in a similar supervisory capacity.
OR
Associates degree and two (2) years experience in the general building trades including some experience as a foreman or in a similar supervisory capacity.
A comparable amount of education and training may be substituted for the minimum experience.
*Must possess and maintain a valid Florida driver's license at the time of hire.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
โ€ข Knowledge of the practices, methods, materials, and tools used in the building trades.
โ€ข Knowledge of the occupational hazards associated with building trades work and related safety precautions.
โ€ข Knowledge and ability to use a computerized maintenance management system
โ€ข Ability to layout work and instruct workers in a variety of remodeling and maintenance work.
โ€ข Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with associates and the general public.
โ€ข Ability to read and interpret sketches and blueprints.
โ€ข Ability to express ideas clearly and concisely, orally and in writing to groups and individuals.
โ€ข Ability to respond to emergency situations.
โ€ข Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
โ€ข Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
โ€ข Ability to work under stressful conditions.
โ€ข Ability to interact effectively with others.
โ€ข Must be able to relocate to other county locations based upon operational needs.

Mental Demands: Ability to read and comprehend technical manuals and instructions; safety instructions, procedures, memos, letters; blueprints, schematics. Ability to perform shop math. Ability to speak clearly and concisely. Ability to write instructions, procedures, memos, reports.
Physical Demands: Medium work. Ability to exert 20-50 pounds of force. Ability to talk, hear, see, walk, handle, feel, grasp, bend, stoop, lift, reach and climb. Ability to match or detect differences between colors. Visual Acuity(peripheral vision, depth perception) necessary to operate a motorized vehicle. Finger dexterity.
Environmental Demands: Inside and outside work. Limited exposure to chemicals, fumes, noise, dust.
