Responsible for sourcing and negotiating the procurement of equipment and services for Air Liquide's large-scale capital projects executed by its in-house EPC firm. Purchases must be secured at competitive cost, quality, and delivery levels consistent with Company policy and performance standards. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, abilities and physical demands required.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Conduct RFI / RFP / RFQs for equipment, materials, and services in collaboration with the Project Management team and Engineering teams

  • Liaise with Engineering and suppliers to conduct technical clarifications in support of proposal development and project execution

  • Secure and analyze quotations, lead negotiations prices and terms & conditions with suppliers, recommend suppliers with respect to cost, quality, and delivery competitiveness for assigned responsibilities.

  • Present bid tab analysis to stakeholders during weekly status meetings

  • Confer with vendors to obtain product or service information such as price,

  • availability, and delivery schedule, and to track the status of requisitions and orders or to resolve discrepancies with quantity and quality.

  • Create and issue accurate purchase orders in SAP in a timely manner

  • Prepare, maintain, and review organized purchasing files, reports, supplier

  • database, PO details and price lists.

  • Coordinate quality matters and engineering changes or developments between the company and suppliers.

  • Arrange for submission and inspection of sample products as required.

  • Assist with proposal development by securing budgetary quotes

  • Maintain close supplier relationships

  • Study market trends in raw materials, commodities, etc.

  • Present updates to leadership as needed

  • Attend project planning meetings to ensure strategic alignment in execution phase

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain, Business or related field required

  • Candidates must have valid employment authorization in the U.S. and must not require visa sponsorship now or in the future. This position is not open for non-immigrant visa sponsorship

  • 7+ years of purchasing experience with preference for equipment used in air separation

  • process.

  • Excellent computer skills (Gmail, Google Sheets, Google Docs, Google Drive, Google Slides).

  • SAP

  • Critical thinking and negotiation skills.

  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of raw materials, industrial gas production processes, equipment specifications

  • Knowledge of business and procurement principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, production methods, coordination of resources, purchasing policies, processes and procedures.

  • Verbal communication skills: speaks clearly and persuasively to convey information effectively; actively listens to understand, asks questions as appropriate and responds well to questions.

  • Manage flow of incoming emails well, and responds quickly to project needs

  • Written communication skills: writes clearly and informatively and presents numerical data effectively.

  • Negotiation skills: develops cooperative working relationships with vendors and suppliers to effectively negotiate for best possible prices and terms.

  • Organizational skills: Manages and completes multiple tasks on time and plans, prioritizes, and organizes work to achieve goals and objectives with excellent follow through and follow up.

  • Interpersonal skills: Builds positive team spirit by developing constructive and cooperative working relationships and interdepartmental group commitments to effectively achieve production goals and objectives.

  • Computer skills: Proficiency in Google Workspace Suite and Gmail; proficient in the use of SAP systems.

  • Technical skills: Ability to read an equipment general arrangement (GA) drawing, bills of material, equipment packing lists, transportation drawings, etc.

  • Ability to work well under pressure, meet tight deadlines, and work independently with little supervision.

  • Ability to be self-motivated, persistent, hands-on, results-oriented with a strong sense of urgency, the ability to take initiative and accomplish goals.

  • Ability to demonstrate a high degree of professionalism and maturity with good judgment.

  • Ability to maintain consistent and regular attendance during regular business hours
