Job description

Project Buyer
As a Project Buyer, you are responsible for performing a variety of routine buying/purchasing tasks involving materials, supplies, or services. You will review purchase requirements and places orders with approved suppliers. Evaluates bids, select and/or recommend suppliers and negotiate price, delivery, quality and service. Follows up on all awards until completion of order.
Location: Middleburg Heights, OH (greater Cleveland area)
Type: Full-time, Regular position
Pay Range: $60,000-$65,000

Your Challenge:
  • Purchase and maintain proper inventory levels of all raw materials and finished goods.
  • The purchasing activities for assigned customer projects and customer demand requirements.
  • Procure commercial and safety related materials ensuring compliance, quality, and on time delivery.
  • Evaluate demand requirements and develop sourcing strategies to support project timelines.
  • Manage purchase orders from initiation through completion, including expediting and issue resolution.
  • Build and maintain strong vendor relationships to support long term supply stability and performance.
  • Support strategic sourcing initiatives when applicable.
  • Set up an onboard new vendors.
  • Assist with RFQ's, expense purchases, and departmental workload queues as needed.
  • Collaborate cross-functional with operations, engineering, sales, and quality teams.
  • Perform JIT (just in time) purchasing.
  • Maintain and administrate vendor contracts.
  • Review and maintain proper safety stock levels.
  • Negotiate vendor pricing.
  • Perform other related duties or functions assigned.

Your Expertise:
  • 2-3 years of related experience in a manufacturing environment and/or supply chain with full cycle procurement exposure.
  • Strong understanding of purchasing processes from demand planning through order fulfillment.
  • Experience evaluating vendors, sourcing materials, and managing supplier performance.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
  • Experience working with ERP/MRP systems (Oracle preferred).
  • Background in manufacturing required; fastener industry experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience with nuclear industry suppliers or safety related materials is a strong plus.
  • Ability to interpret technical requirements such as drawings or specifications is a plus.
  • Bachelor's Degree (Business Administration, Supply Chain)
  • Presents positive solutions to organizational challenges
  • Knowledge of material management functions which includes procurement planning and processes.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with others.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Proven negotiation skills.
  • Display an understanding of the importance of product quality and compliance with health and safety procedures.
