Job description

Arconic is currently in search of a Capital Procurement Manager to join our Rolled Products North America Team based out of Lafayette, IN.

Job Summary: 

The Capital Procurement Manager is responsible for leading and managing the procurement of capital goods and services to support the organization’s strategic investment initiatives. This role ensures the effective sourcing, negotiation, and acquisition of high-value equipment, construction services, and technology systems, while aligning with budgetary goals, project timelines, and compliance standards.

The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical and negotiation skills, a deep understanding of capital project lifecycles, and the ability to collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, finance, legal, and operations teams. The Capital Procurement Manager will also be instrumental in developing supplier relationships, managing risk, and driving cost optimization strategies.


In this role, you will:

  • Develop and execute procurement strategies for capital projects in alignment with organizational objectives
  • Lead sourcing, bidding, and contract negotiation processes for capital expenditures
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and technical teams to define specifications and procurement timelines
  • Evaluate and select suppliers based on quality, cost, delivery, and project specific compliance criteria
  • Monitor supplier performance and manage vendor relationships to ensure project success
  • Ensure adherence to internal controls, legal requirements, and industry standards
  • Analyze market trends and identify opportunities for cost savings and process improvements
  • Prepare and present procurement reports and forecasts to senior leadership
  • Proactively identify and drive cost reduction initiatives
  • Perform commercial evaluations and assist with technical evaluations leading to an award recommendation 
  • Work directly with legal personnel to create the required contract documents
  • Identify and qualify suppliers with expertise in supplying industrial manufacturing equipment
  • Identify and qualify suppliers with expertise in industrial construction
  • Conduct market analyses on materials, products, and services associated with capital projects
  • Work to minimize the number of “single source” purchase orders
  • Lead the efforts to resolve any disputes that may arise between the project team and suppliers
  • Apply strong analytical and decision-making skills that foster developing creative solutions and support the business mission
  • Assist in value engineering exercises to obtain the lowest cost for the desired capital solution
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously while achieving key business objectives
  • Travel as required to suppliers and project sites (<10% of time)

You have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, supply chain management, engineering, or a related field from an accredited university
  • 5 years of procurement experience in capital projects, preferably in aluminum or metals manufacturing
  • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
  • This position requires access to controlled technology, as defined in the Export Administration Regulations (15 C.F.R. §730, et seq.) and/or the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). Authorizations from the relevant government agency may be required to meet export control compliance requirements.

Exceptional Candidates also have: 

  • MBA in Business Administration/Economics or similar advanced degree
  • 7+ years of procurement experience in capital projects, preferably in aluminum or metals manufacturing
  • Strong knowledge of heavy industrial equipment, fabrication, and installation processes
  • Proven ability to manage complex supplier negotiations associated with capital projects
  • Proficiency in ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle)
  • Excellent communication, analytical, and stakeholder management skills
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite 
  • Experience in an engineering or heavy industrial manufacturing environment
  • Certified Purchasing Professional (CPP), Certified Purchasing Manager (CPM) or equivalent 
  • Familiarity with the Front-End Loading (FEL) engineering process
