S&ME's Raleigh office is seeking a skilled Civil & Energy Project Manager to lead complex, multi-disciplinary projects for clients in the Energy, Industrial, and Mining sectors, particularly those involving natural gas distribution, transmission systems and waste management.

What You Will Do:
As a Civil & Energy Project Manager, you'll guide projects from concept to completion, managing environmental and cultural resource studies, navigating permitting requirements, directing pipeline design, and overseeing construction documentation. Your leadership will foster team collaboration, build strong client relationships, and create a positive project environment. Alongside project delivery, you'll contribute to business growth by developing proposals and supporting strategic client development efforts.
  • Leadership & Coordination - Direct multi-disciplinary design teams, promoting effective communication and seamless project execution.
  • Project Oversight - Manage all aspects of project delivery, including safety compliance, risk assessment, technical quality, schedule, and budget. Conduct site visits and engage with clients to ensure expectations are exceeded.
  • Permitting & Design - Lead both environmental and non-environmental permitting efforts, such as Erosion & Sedimentation Control Plans, Floodplain Development Permits, DOT and utility encroachments, and site grading. Oversee design for natural gas pipelines and facilities, landfills, and electric transmission/distribution infrastructure.
  • Technical Skills - Apply expertise in AutoCAD, Civil3D, stormwater modeling, and utility design tools to produce and review high-quality construction plans and documentation.
  • Business Development - Partner with leadership to identify new opportunities, prepare competitive proposals, and expand the company's client network.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering preferred; Additional degrees or commensurate experience will be considered.
  • 6+ years' experience working on civil and/or energy project with at least 2+ years' experience of project management responsibilities
  • Onshore oil and gas or landfill sectors is a plus
  • Environmental and non-environmental permitting for civil and/or energy projects is a plus
  • Managing multi-disciplined teams on life-cycle civil or energy projects is a plus
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively communicate with teammates and clients
