Job description

Summary

A well-established general contractor is seeking an Assistant Project Manager to support commercial construction projects from preconstruction through closeout. This role works closely with the Project Manager and Superintendent to help manage schedules, budgets, subcontractors, and project documentation while ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, and within budget.

This opportunity is ideal for someone with commercial construction experience who is looking to grow into a full Project Manager role.

Key Responsibilities

Support Project Managers with day-to-day execution of commercial construction projects

Assist with preconstruction activities including scope review, bid leveling, and subcontractor buyout

Track and manage RFIs, submittals, change orders, and project documentation

Help maintain project schedules, cost reports, and budget forecasts

Coordinate with subcontractors, vendors, architects, and consultants to keep projects moving

Attend project meetings and assist with meeting minutes and follow-up items

Work closely with Superintendents to support field coordination, safety, and quality control

Assist with job cost tracking, billing, and pay applications

Support project closeout activities including punch lists, warranties, and final documentation

Qualifications

2–5+ years of experience as an Assistant Project Manager, Project Engineer, or similar role with a general contractor

Experience supporting commercial construction projects

Basic understanding of construction contracts, scheduling, and cost control

Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

Clear written and verbal communication skills

Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment

Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management or related field preferred
