Overview

We are seeking a Project Manager 1 to support technology initiatives within the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) Tolling Division. This role will provide project coordination and Agile delivery support by assisting the Delivery Manager with project planning, documentation, reporting, and facilitation of Agile ceremonies. The ideal candidate is organized, collaborative, and experienced in supporting Agile project teams while helping drive successful technology initiatives.

Job Description

The Project Manager 1 will support the successful delivery of VDOT technology initiatives by providing project coordination, Agile administration, and operational support. Working closely with the Delivery Manager and project stakeholders, this position will assist with project planning, documentation, reporting, and Agile ceremonies while helping maintain project organization and delivery timelines.

Responsibilities

Project Coordination

  • Support project planning, scheduling, and coordination activities.
  • Maintain project documentation, reports, and status updates.
  • Track project activities, milestones, and deliverables.
  • Assist with administrative support for technology initiatives.

Agile Delivery Support

  • Coordinate and facilitate Agile ceremonies and team activities.
  • Support Agile teams by maintaining project artifacts and documentation.
  • Assist the Delivery Manager with Agile planning and execution activities.
  • Promote effective communication across project teams.

Documentation & Reporting

  • Prepare and maintain project documentation.
  • Support business and system process documentation efforts.
  • Assist with project reporting and progress tracking.
  • Ensure project records remain accurate and up to date.

Collaboration

  • Work closely with the Delivery Manager, project teams, and stakeholders.
  • Coordinate activities across project participants to support successful delivery.
  • Communicate project updates and support ongoing operational needs.

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience supporting projects, Agile teams, or administrative operations.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience working within a tolling environment.
  • Must be physically located within the United States for the duration of the assignment.
  • Must successfully complete both phone and in-person interviews as part of the hiring process.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without employer sponsorship, now or in the future.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certified Scrum Master (CSM), Scrum Foundations, or equivalent Agile certification with up to 5 years of related experience.
  • Up to 5 years of experience analyzing and documenting business and systems processes.
