Agency Finance Associate Attorney

Locations: New York, New York; Washington, DC

Direct Counsel is seeking an Agency Finance Associate to join the market-leading Agency Finance Group of a premier global law firm. This is an outstanding opportunity for an associate interested in sophisticated cross-border finance transactions involving emerging markets, international development institutions, and large-scale infrastructure projects across the globe.

The practice advises development finance institutions, multilateral agencies, export credit agencies, and regional development banks on complex financings supporting critical infrastructure and economic development initiatives throughout Latin America, Central and South Asia, Sub-Saharan Africa, and the Middle East.

Responsibilities
  • Support complex cross-border financing transactions involving:
    • Project finance
    • Structured finance
    • Corporate finance
    • Bank lending transactions
    • Capital markets transactions
    • Political risk insurance matters
    • Refinancings and restructurings
  • Advise development finance institutions, multilateral organizations, and export credit agencies on international transactions
  • Assist with financing matters across industries including:
    • Energy and renewable energy
    • Telecommunications
    • Transportation
    • Financial services
    • Housing and infrastructure
    • Mining and manufacturing
  • Draft and negotiate financing and transaction documents
  • Conduct due diligence and transaction management for international deals
  • Work collaboratively with multilingual and cross-border legal teams
  • Support transactions involving emerging market jurisdictions and complex regulatory environments
Qualifications
  • J.D. from an accredited law school with strong academic credentials
  • Demonstrated interest and experience in cross-border transactions
  • Experience in:
    • Project finance
    • Structured finance
    • Corporate finance
    • International lending transactions
  • Experience with infrastructure and energy projects preferred
  • Familiarity with development finance institutions and multilateral agencies preferred
  • Proficiency in Spanish, Portuguese, and/or French strongly preferred
  • Strong drafting, analytical, organizational, and communication skills
  • Entrepreneurial mindset and ability to take on increasing responsibility in sophisticated transactions
  • Admission to the applicable state bar or eligibility to waive in
