Structured finance refers to complex financial instruments offered to borrowers with unique or sophisticated needs, typically beyond the scope of conventional lending. These financial solutions often involve pooling various financial assets and dividing them into tranches to manage risk and meet investor preferences. Common examples include asset-backed securities (ABS), collateralized debt obligations (CDOs), and mortgage-backed securities (MBS). Structured finance helps companies and financial institutions raise capital, manage risk, and improve liquidity.
