At ENMAX, theSenior Transmission Project Engineeris the next step for engineers looking to deepen their technical specialization and broaden their project leadership.You'llprovide technical leadership across the full project lifecycle-from early concept and feasibility through detailed design, construction support, and closeout-while serving as a key subject matter expert for transmission line projects in anurban environment. Your work will directly support system reliability and the modernization of critical infrastructure. In this role, you'll be a trusted technical subject matter expert that others rely on, guiding multidisciplinary teams and influencing long-term grid strategy while leading and coordinating engineering deliverables such as feasibility and conceptual assessments, design scopes of work, detailed designs and design reviews, and technical support during construction and commissioning.
You'llbe relied upon to navigate complex transmission projects and their unique technical considerations,providingclear technical guidance to cross-functional teams to deliver safe, compliant, and high-quality outcomes with minimal oversight.
Major Responsibilities:
  • Provide technical support,guidanceandexpertisefor full project cycle, including but not limitedto:system planning, routing & siting, stakeholder engagement, regulatory, estimating, engineering & design, procurement, scheduling, construction,commissioningand asset management.
  • Independently manage all technical aspects of transmission line design projects, including structural design and analysis, foundationdesignand overhead system design. Projects will cover new lines, rebuild/upgrade of existing lines, relocation of lines, and emergency response.
  • Independently conduct engineering design and analysis for all aspects of transmission line design that include but not limited to survey/LiDAR data processing, structure/conductor/insulator optimization, DRD/loading tree design, PLS CADD/Pole/Tower/ Caisson analysis, constructioncoordinationand supervisionetc
  • Work with other groups as a subject matter expert for transmission line projects. Provide input to Asset Management, System Planning, Regulatory, Standards, Office of the Chief Engineer, and any other groups within ENMAX requiring technicalexpertisein Transmission projects.
  • Generate and review all engineering/technical documents project related including but not limited to- NID document, functional specification, material/construction specification, Project scope, construction/design scope of work, bill of material, tender package etc.
  • Oversee the scope and ensure the quality of engineering deliverables provided by internal and external engineering consultants to meet the needs of the project. Ensure all applicable engineering, industry and ENMAX Corporation standards, codes,regulationsand public safety are applied in designs and during review.
  • Identify,exploreand propose solutions and improvements to technical practices, components, and processes for team lead and manager review.
  • Work with internal and external customers and technical experts todeterminethe complete project scope for complex projects, includingidentifyingall required technical deliverables, interdependencies, and any risks that are technical in nature.
  • Provide guidance to stakeholders reviewing construction Requests for Information and consult with required parties and provide responses in the form of Field Instructions, or via direct construction support on site.
  • Ensure the safety of our staff, contractors, and the public is held as paramount in everything we do.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Education Required:
  • P.Eng status with The Association of Professionals in Engineering and Geoscience in Alberta (APEGA)
  • Bachelor's Degree in Structural Engineeringis preferred
Qualifications & Experience:
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in the areas of transmission line design
  • Strongproficiencywith PLS CADD/POLE/TOWER/CAISSON isrequired
  • HV underground line (138kV+) experience will be asset
  • Utility work experience will be asset
  • Experience with regulatory applications filings will be an asset
  • Experience in stakeholder engagement discussions will be an asset
