Riley Construction, a well-established construction company specializing in delivering high-quality projects across various sectors is hiring a Project Development Manager. The Project Development Manager assists the Director of Growth Strategies and Project Executives (PXs) overseeing each target sector (ex. Healthcare) with developing, executing, and marketing objectives and strategies in support of overall corporate business development goals.


This role will focus primarily on manufacturing, industrial, municipal, and life sciences/pharma.


This person can be based in either the Kenosha, WI or Waukegan, IL office to cover the following territory.

    • Generally- Kenosha (WI), Walworth (WI), Winnebago (IL), Boone (IL), McHenry (IL), Lake (IL)
    • Line from- Kenosha/Racine County line to Lake Geneva to Rockford to I-90 East to ORD to Evanston and north along the lake


RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Relationship Development: Build and nurture strong relationships with influential individuals and key partners in the industry and community. Help integrate Riley operational personnel to create a zippered relationship.
  • Client Engagement: Drive potential customers and influential individuals to tour the office and jobsites.
    • Driving new leads: Proactively schedule and conduct meetings with potential, existing, and past clients to identify and nurture project opportunities.
    • Qualify all opportunities using the go/no-go exercise before taking to leadership.
  • Market Research: Collaborate with the Marketing team to conduct thorough research, identify potential customers, and prioritize them based on strategic goals. Become the expert in your industries, understanding key differentiators in the market.
  • Business Development Planning: Co-develop and execute comprehensive business development plans for specific targets, leveraging the expertise of the Marketing team.
  • Proposal Creation: Help create and present well-crafted customer proposals that effectively communicate the value of our services.
  • Proposal Support: Assist the Marketing team in writing proposal sections and creating qualifications packages to showcase our capabilities.
  • Collateral Development: Collaborate with the Marketing team to develop compelling promotional and collateral materials that align with our brand.
  • Content Contribution: Contribute to the development of content to effectively showcase our expertise.
  • Preconstruction Collaboration: Collaborate with the Preconstruction department in bidding and planning.
  • Estimating: Utilize conceptual estimating and hard bidding techniques in collaboration with the Preconstruction department.
  • Event Engagement: Engage industry influencers and key partners through participation in Riley events, industry events, and volunteer/community activities.
  • CRM Utilization: Log activity, manage leads, review account plans using Riley's client relationship management (CRM) program (Cosential), including following best practices, ensuring accurate reporting, tracking progress and goals, and managing tasks.
  • Pipeline Management: Drive the accuracy of Riley's business development pipeline by tracking contacts, companies, interactions, leads, and updating opportunity dates and dollar amounts in Riley's CRM (Cosential).
  • Event Planning: Assist in planning and organizing client appreciation events and educational opportunities to strengthen client relationships.
  • Networking: Actively participate in professional and community organizations to stay connected with industry trends and expand our network.
  • Additional Assignments: Undertake additional assignments as requested by the Director of Growth Strategies to contribute to the overall success of the company.
  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, construction management, construction administration, sales, or marketing or equivalent experience.
  • Experience in construction, engineering, or architecture is preferred.
  • Experience could be as a PE, PM, or in an estimating role
  • 4+ years of sales experience- specifically in B2B complex selling environments, preferred.
  • Strong understanding of construction processes, project management, and industry standards.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Effective communication skills, desire to learn/grow/win, willingness to push outside of comfort zone, strategic thinking are all critical traits
  • Some level of extraversion is preferred.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
