Project Development Manager information

What is a project development manager?

A Project Development Manager is a professional responsible for overseeing and coordinating the planning, execution, and completion of projects within an organization. They manage project teams, set timelines, allocate resources, and ensure that project objectives are met on time and within budget. Project Development Managers often serve as the main point of contact between stakeholders, clients, and team members, ensuring clear communication and alignment throughout the project lifecycle.

How does a project development manager typically collaborate with cross-functional teams during a project's lifecycle?

A Project Development Manager regularly works with cross-functional teams, including engineering, finance, marketing, and operations, to ensure project objectives are met. They facilitate communication between departments, align goals, and address any conflicts or dependencies that arise. Effective collaboration often involves leading meetings, tracking progress, and ensuring all stakeholders are informed of updates or changes. This collaborative approach is essential for maintaining project momentum and achieving successful outcomes.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a project development manager, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Project Development Manager, you need expertise in project planning, budgeting, and risk management, often supported by a degree in business, engineering, or construction management. Familiarity with project management software such as MS Project, Primavera, or Asana, and certifications like PMP or PRINCE2, are highly beneficial. Exceptional leadership, negotiation, and communication skills help foster effective teamwork and client relationships. These skills and qualifications are essential to deliver projects on time, within budget, and to the desired quality standards.

Job description

MOVING YOUR WORLD by focusing on your success:

FUCHS offers a challenging and rewarding working environment where employees are encouraged to develop and grow.  We stand behind our core values: trust, creating value, respect, reliability, and integrity. Ours is a culture that fosters creativity and empowerment, values work/life balance, and gives you the freedom to excel. At FUCHS we aim to nurture your capabilities, ideas and career.

Salary:

FUCHS offers a competitive salary commensurate with experience in a similar position. The salary range for this position is $130,000 - $145,000 per year, but actual salary will vary depending upon a new hire’s experience and qualifications as well as internal equity.

About the Role

This is a unique opportunity to combine segment leadership, business development, and strategic account management into one highly visible role.

The Business Segment Manager will own the strategy, growth, profitability, and market development of FUCHS Canada's Specialty Markets portfolio. As these segments continue to expand, the successful candidate will work directly with customers, OEMs, distributors, and industry stakeholders to identify opportunities, develop new business, expand key accounts, and establish FUCHS as a market leader.

Success in this role requires both strategic thinking and a hands-on commercial mindset. This is not a desk-based marketing position. The successful candidate will spend significant time in the market building relationships, qualifying opportunities, supporting trials, and driving profitable growth.

Focus Areas: Food Processing, Packaging Materials, Rail, Construction Materials, Wind Energy, and other emerging specialty industries.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute growth strategies for assigned Specialty Markets.
  • Drive revenue, margin, and market share growth across Canada.
  • Identify, qualify, and develop new business opportunities.
  • Build and maintain a strong pipeline of strategic opportunities.
  • Lead competitive conversions, product trials, and commercialization activities.
  • Develop relationships with customers, OEMs, distributors, consultants, and industry associations.
  • Own segment pricing strategy and profitability improvement initiatives.
  • Provide market intelligence and identify emerging trends and opportunities.
  • Support and coach the sales team on segment-specific applications and value propositions.
  • Collaborate with Product Management, Marketing, Operations, Supply Chain, and Technical Services to execute growth initiatives

Qualifications we are looking for:

  • 7+ years of industrial B2B sales, business development, strategic account management, or segment leadership experience.
  • Proven success winning new business and growing customer relationships.
  • Strong consultative and value-selling skills.
  • Experience developing commercial growth strategies and delivering profitable results.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and business stakeholders.
  • Strong leadership and influencing skills across cross-functional teams.
  • Experience within industrial manufacturing, food processing, packaging, rail, energy, or related markets is preferred.
  • Willingness to travel across Canada.

These are your benefits:

FUCHS offers a challenging and rewarding working environment where employees are encouraged to develop and grow as professionals.  In this role, you will have the opportunity to work on projects that will expand your experience and challenge your abilities in the global marketplace.  The position also offers an excellent compensation package and a comprehensive suite of benefits. Detailed benefit information can be found at this link:https://fuchs.com/ca/en/benefits

FUCHS Lubricants Co. is an equal employment opportunity (EEO)/AA employer and strongly supports diversity in the workplace (m/f/d/v).
