Essential Job Duties
The Development Assistant plays a key role in supporting fundraising efforts within the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences Advancement Office. As a trusted partner to major gift officers and advancement professionals, this position provides high-level administrative and project support that helps strengthen donor relationships and advance the college's philanthropic goals.
Key responsibilities include managing complex calendars and scheduling, preparing professional correspondence, coordinating board and committee meetings, arranging travel, tracking projects and priorities, and providing day-to-day administrative support. The Development Assistant serves as an integral member of the advancement team, ensuring operations run efficiently and stakeholders receive exceptional service.
The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to balance multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Success in this role requires strong communication skills, sound judgment, discretion when handling confidential information, and a collaborative approach to supporting colleagues and donors. A proactive mindset and willingness to identify process improvements are highly valued.
Other Responsibilities
  • The Administrative Support position will also be expected to develop detailed schedules, plans, reports and track key project milestones to meet the varying needs of the team.
  • Travel on campus and in the local area to complete time-sensitive tasks.
Qualifications
Minimum Experience/Education
High School Diploma or equivalency and one year of related office experience; or equivalent combination of training and experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience providing progressively responsible administrative support, preferably in a professional, higher education, nonprofit, or fundraising environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities, coordinate schedules and meetings, and track projects while meeting deadlines.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and electronic calendar/email systems, such as Google Workspace.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to prepare accurate reports, correspondence, and project documentation.
  • Knowledge of fundraising, advancement, donor relations, or development operations, with the ability to work effectively with varied stakeholders while maintaining confidentiality and professionalism.
