Job description

Position Title: Project Engineer

Position Summary: The Project Engineer is responsible for managing the flow of information on the project including but not limited to detailed plan reviews, quality control and document management. The Project Engineer will review construction design, lead in the identification and resolution of engineering or design conflicts.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities: Duties generally include, but are not limited to:

  • Review, analyze and resolve design/construction problems, discrepancies and interferences with the design team, project leadership, Client, and contractors as required.
  • Ensure that all project engineering activities comply with company and contract requirements and support the development and maintenance of the overall construction schedule.
  • Provide technical support for construction effort including participation in design interpretation, application of construction methods, identification, resolution and documentation of design conflicts, constructability reviews, etc.; all to help determine the most cost effective and schedule efficient method of construction.
  • Develop, implement, and administer document control functions.
  • Responsible for maintaining all design documents to be current with onsite construction operations.
  • Responsible for submittal tracking, project logs; all processing, coordination, and documentation as required to facilitate project.
  • Maintain official project log and documentation.
  • Represent company as required during design review meeting with the design team, project coordination meetings with contractors, etc.
  • Assist in preparing special reports, studies and etc. as requested by client or in support of project management.
  • Assist project leadership with development of scopes of work to create and confirm subcontracts and vendor purchase orders.
  • Successfully perform other duties as assigned.

Additional Duties for Experienced PE:

  • Must demonstrate excellent team leadership and management skills.
  • Proficiency in managing project engineering and related functions and activities.
  • Working knowledge of project schedule development (CPM network), responsible for continual updating and schedule maintenance, monitoring for adherence, and advisement of potential schedule problem/impact.
  • Knowledge of construction engineering technology, building codes and standards, etc., complete understanding of the interdependence and relationship between function units required.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage varied disciplines is essential. Instant situation diagnosis, problem recognition and problem-solving skills required.
  • Must thoroughly understand all project documents. and provide technical input in support of field activities.
  • Knowledge of CSI Codes for Construction and organization of project specifications.
  • Ability to train other engineers and trainees as required.

Ideal Skills, Certifications, and Experience:

  • 4-year engineering degree or equivalent training and experience preferred. 4-years of military service with will be strongly considered.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and willingness to learn.
  • Excellent computer skills applicable to managing information systems according to best practices.
  • Ability to contribute and work in a team environment.
  • Must have excellent organizational, time management, leadership, and decision-making skills.
