POSITION SCOPE AND ORGANIZATIONAL IMPACT
Moss' Energy Project Engineer/Senior Project Engineer, Mechanical, will work in concert with the Engineering Services team to ensure that all digital files and drawings are aligned across different disciplines. Cross-functional problem-solving is a key component of the everyday responsibilities of this role. Additionally, this position will be responsible for reviewing drawings from multiple engineers, along with other digital design files.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Be familiar with utility-scale solar and BESS project designs, including single-line drawings, mechanical, civil, structural, and electrical site plans, and equipment layout.
  • Understand the construction applications of solar power plant design, racking/tracker design, and powering.
  • Have direct and relevant experience with the latest solar and battery storage equipment, including solar panels, inverters/transformers, racking systems, and battery systems.
  • Ability to review scope of work documents and analyze the design implications of different requirements.
  • Own portions of the project lifecycle - from design to construction support.
  • Provide mentorship and support to junior team members on the Engineering Team for a Senior-level Project Engineer.
  • Comfortable traveling across the country to perform site visits and provide technical support to construction teams.
  • Support field teams with various technical requests.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, technical field, or related discipline is required - civil or mechanical engineering degree preferred.
  • 0-1+ years' experience as a Project Engineer and 2+ years' experience as a Senior Project Engineer in the solar construction industry or direct engineering management on solar construction projects - solar experience is required.
  • Knowledge of racking, materials, and methods of construction in power systems is a plus.
  • Proven ability to work across multiple systems and manage design documentation is a plus.
  • Familiarity with CAD workflows and construction standards is a plus.
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D is a plus.
  • Good communication and presentation skills, including the ability to organize and present complex technical information effectively in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint - required.
  • Knowledge of foundation design is a plus.
  • Geotechnical knowledge is a plus.
  • Highly organized and able to multitask multiple projects at once.
  • Knowledge of QGIS or other GIS software is a plus.
  • Knowledge of Autodesk Fusion or other 3D Design software is a plus.
  • Up to 10% of travel to visit our project sites is required.
