Job description

We are searching for a Project Engineer on behalf of our client. This is a 1-year contract assignment (W-2). The person will be supporting solar farm design and construction. Responsibilities include managing 3rd party contractor teams to develop engineering designs for solar projects. Project engineering responsibilities span from initial concept definition to construction and final commissioning and require coordination with environmental, procurement, transmission services, and project managers for both early stage and construction.

Location: Remote but candidates living in Florida are preferred. Candidates will need to travel to Juno Beach, FL frequently during the first 3-6 months of the assignment.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage 3rd party contractor teams to develop engineering designs for solar projects from concept through commissioning.
  • Coordinate with environmental, procurement, transmission services, and project managers for both early stage and construction phases.
  • Apply value engineering to balance reliability, cost, and performance for complex systems.
  • Lead or coordinate ongoing communication among diverse project stakeholders and mobilize engineering teams to meet business objectives.
  • Support scheduling and budgeting for major capital projects as applicable.

Education:

  • Minimum - Bachelor of Science in Engineering (required). Disciplines: electrical, civil, mechanical, aerospace, or chemical.

Experience:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience (exceptions possible if strong fit).
  • Engineering and project management experience on utility-scale solar projects preferred.
  • Experience in other power industries (wind, BESS, combined cycle, nuclear) may be considered.
  • Strong communication, leadership, and project management skills.
  • Experience managing schedules and budgets for major capital projects is preferred.

Remote work is acceptable. Ideally, candidates reside near Florida. Even when remote, travel to the office in Juno Beach is expected periodically, with more frequent travel during the first 3-6 months.
