Job description

Vaco is partnering with company to find a Controller for their organization. As the Controller, you will lead and oversee all accounting and financial operations for an assigned region spanning a diverse portfolio of companies. This role is responsible for directing the full range of regional financial activities, including month-end close, financial reporting, account reconciliations, regulatory compliance, project accounting, and internal controls, while ensuring accuracy, operational efficiency, and alignment with organizational objectives.

Key Responsibilities: Lead full-cycle monthly close activities, including journal entries, account reconciliations, accruals, financial reporting, and year-end audit coordination while ensuring compliance with U.S. GAAP, internal controls, and corporate policies. Partnered cross-functionally with operations, sales, project management, HR, and shared services to support budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis, cost control, and project financial management, including revenue recognition, WIP analysis, change orders, and warranty provisions.

Strengthened regional financial operations by managing receivables, sales and use tax compliance, insurance renewals, financial planning tools, and process improvements to enhance accuracy, scalability, and operational efficiency. Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in Assistant Controller or Controller roles within construction, mechanical services, or multi-entity environments. Proficiency with ERP systems required; experience with Sage Intacct is strongly preferred Strong technical accounting expertise demonstrated hands-on experience in construction and project accounting, including revenue recognition, job costing, work-in-progress (WIP) reporting, and percentage-of-completion accounting methodologies.
