Job description

Description

Sustainability Engineering Group has an immediate opening for a Controller with at least 10 years of controller and/or accounting experience for an engineering, architecture, or construction company. This individual will be ultimately responsible for the day-to-day accounting of project financials as well as other duties in a growing A/E/C firm. 


This is a Full-Time, On-Site position working in our office located in Phoenix, Arizona - not a remote position. Responsibilities will include but may not be limited to the following:


  • Project job cost accounting including preparation of draws, collection of payments, and subcontractor compliance
  • Lead the creation and analysis of financial reports
  • Journal entries and job costs for projects
  • Generate POs for Sub-Contractors
  • Collect and track compliance documents
  •  Assist in accounting process creation and implementation
  • Companywide expense management and reporting
  • Create client invoice and client billing in BQECore 
  • Assisting with project audits
  • Support operations staff
  • Review owner contracts to understand accounting requirements
  • Maintain multiple state tax license(s)
  • Coordinate with outside accountants and auditors
  • Assist with Payroll

 Qualifications:


We are looking for a flexible, detail-oriented team player with the ability to manage multiple tasks, produce quality work, and consistently meet deadlines. The successful candidate will possess:

  • Excellent listening skills and strong oral and written communication skills
  • The ability to identify, analyze, and resolve complex issues
  • Experience with project management software highly preferred
  • 10+ years of experience as a controller, preferably within the engineering, architecture, and/or construction industry
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field, CPA preferred
  • Prior experience with budgeting and project controls highly preferred
  • A strong work ethic and a "can-do anything" attitude
