ROLE SUMMARY
Are you interested in accounting, finance, and operations? MasTec is seeking a Project Controller I to join our dynamic team of creators and problem-solvers. As the Project Controller I, you will serve as a conduit between operational excellence, customer satisfaction, and financial profitability. This role involves working closely with operational management to perform key responsibilities such as job setup, job / project accounting, billing, cost management, forecasting, and ensuring strong operational and financial controls. Reporting directly to the Business Unit Controller.
Responsibilities
  • Oversee the financial results for jobs /projects, including, but not limited to, revenue recognition, accruals, expense coding, billing, analytics, controls, and cost management
  • Partner with Operations, Project Management, and Finance to understand each job projects financial results and report that financial position, addressing ad hock questions as necessary
  • Monitor and analyze customer billings, open POs, expense trends
  • Support Operations and Project Management in forecasting job / project results, including risk and opportunities
  • Ensure adherence to business processes and accounting policies and procedures to maintain an effective internal control environment and integrity of the books and records
  • Manage audit (internal and external) inquiries and ensure timely and adequate responses are provided
  • Maintain compliance with government and organizational reporting requirements
  • Provide consistent and reliable data for ongoing forecasting and planning, including P&L and cash flow
  • Perform ad hoc analysis to understand variances in financial and operational driver

Qualifications
  • BS in Finance, Accounting or Project Management;
  • Basic knowledge of GAAP, accounting processes, internal controls, and forecasting
  • 0-3 years of accounting, finance or project management experience
  • Strong collaboration skills with the ability to communicate well
  • Problem solving abilities
  • Highly organized and detail oriented
