Job description

We're expanding our Heavy Civil team across Canada and looking for an experienced Project Controls Manager who's ready to lead project performance from the field. In this site-based role, you'll partner closely with project directors, construction managers, and field teams to drive cost, schedule, risk, and reporting performance.
You'll be embedded with onsite leadership, providing strategic and hands-on project controls oversight to ensure projects are delivered efficiently, predictably, and in alignment with company objectives.

Essential Responsibilities:
  • Lead the development, implementation, and management of project controls systems, including cost control, scheduling, progress measurement, and reporting
  • Oversee project budgets, forecasts, and cost tracking processes, ensuring alignment with project objectives and timely identification of variances
  • Manage and maintain integrated project schedules, including baseline development, updates, critical path analysis, and recovery planning
  • Provide leadership and mentorship to site-based project controls staff, including coordinators, schedulers, and cost analysts
  • Lead change management processes, including evaluation, documentation, cost/schedule impact analysis, and client reporting
  • Support contract management efforts by coordinating with commercial teams on claims, variations, and subcontractor performance tracking
  • Monitor project performance metrics and provide clear, data-driven insights to project leadership and senior management
Qualifications:
  • 8+ years of progressive experience in project controls, including leadership roles on heavy civil or infrastructure projects (earthworks, highways, bridges, rail, or large-scale utilities)
  • Proven experience managing cost and schedule controls on complex, high-value projects in a site-based environment
  • Post-secondary education in civil engineering, construction management, or a related field (degree preferred)
  • Advanced proficiency in project controls tools such as Primavera P6, cost management systems, and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Strong understanding of construction project lifecycles, including estimating, budgeting, scheduling, procurement, execution, and closeout
  • Demonstrated experience with contract administration, change management, claims support, and risk analysis
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence both field and corporate teams
