These challenges include handling differences in data formats, ensuring data integrity, and maintaining performance while introducing new functionalities. Collaboration with business analysts and IT teams is crucial to understand legacy workflows and minimize disruption. Successful integration requires a solid understanding of both the existing Progress environment and modern development tools.

What are Progress Developers?

Progress Developers are software professionals who specialize in building and maintaining applications using Progress technologies, particularly the Progress OpenEdge development platform. They design, develop, and optimize business applications, typically using the ABL (Advanced Business Language) provided by Progress. These developers are skilled in creating robust database-driven applications, integrating with other systems, and supporting enterprise business processes. Their expertise is often crucial for organizations that rely on Progress solutions for their core operations.

What Does a Progress Developer Do?

Progress is a programming language, also called Progress 4GL, that is used for business application development and created by a company with the same name. The programming language is now known as OpenEdge. As a Progress, or OpenEdge, developer, your responsibilities include using the OpenEdge language to create business applications with relational databases and programming tools. Progress’s tools can be integrated with numerous third-party applications, and they are suitable for developers working with web development, mobile apps, desktop software, and database applications. When seeking work in this technical specialty, you should look for jobs as both a Progress developer and an OpenEdge developer.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Progress Developer, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Progress Developer, you need a solid background in software development, proficiency in Progress OpenEdge ABL, and experience with database design and application architecture. Familiarity with integrated development environments (IDEs) like Progress Developer Studio and certifications in Progress OpenEdge are commonly required. Strong problem-solving abilities, collaboration, and effective communication skills help Progress Developers excel in team environments and client interactions. These skills ensure efficient, reliable application development and support business needs through robust and maintainable software solutions.

DESCRIPTION
We're looking for a Developer Marketing Manager to build and scale our developer acquisition engine, shape an outstanding onboarding experience, and create the foundations for a modern, community-driven developer ecosystem at Sinch.
This role will own the developer digital journey end-to-end - from first touch through activation, engagement, and advocacy - while partnering deeply with Product, Developer Experience, Growth, and Documentation teams.
You'll be the bridge between what developers need and how Sinch shows up across channels like Stack Overflow, GitHub, Reddit, Discord, webinars, documentation, performance marketing, and lifecycle automation.
This is a hands-on builder role for someone who loves technical audiences, can craft clear messaging for APIs and SDKs, and wants to shape the next generation of developer experience at Sinch.
What You'll Own & Do
Build a Community Presence
  • Build Sinch's developer community presence (Discord, Slack, GitHub discussions, etc.).
  • Launch a recurring cadence of developer workshops, office hours, and webinars.
  • Create an "always-on" developer engagement engine.
  • Identify and run developer events (virtual & in-person).
  • Build and scale a Developer Advocate Program, including external champions and internal SMEs.
  • Support product launches with demos, sample apps, walkthroughs, and technical narratives.

Create a World Class Learning Experience
  • Collaborate with Documentation + DX teams to improve clarity, navigation, and usability.
  • Drive the structure of tutorials, quickstarts, recipes, and sample projects.
  • Define best practices for API storytelling and integration guides.

Build a Smarter Developer Journey
  • Partner with Growth to build developer-specific campaign
  • Ensure developer-facing funnel measurement across awareness, sign-up, and activation.
  • Build automated, personalized nurture flows for developers
  • Create walkthroughs, product tours, and progressive learning sequences.

Own the Developer-Specific Narrative
  • Establish relationships with technical publications and reviewer ecosystems.
  • Coordinate developer case studies, reviews, and ecosystem relations.
  • Own the developer-specific narrative and messaging in the market

REQUIREMENTS
  • 3-5 years of experience marketing to developers, engineers, or technical audiences.
  • Ability to write or edit technically accurate content (APIs, SDKs, docs, tutorials).
  • Understanding of GitHub workflows and developer communities.
  • Experience with community platforms (StackOverflow, Reddit, Discord).
  • Ability to work cross-functionally with Product & Engineering.
  • Strong analytical and growth mindset.
  • BONUS: Previous experience in CPaaS, SaaS or DevTools with Hands-on coding familiarity
