The Tailwind Group Summer Intern Program allows students or recent grads to gain real world experience in their area of interest and understand its function within the student housing industry - all while making a true impact on our business.

This internship term will run from May 26th - August 14th and will include:

This is an in-office position working out of our Mankato, MN, corporate office. The pay rate for this position is $16 - $18/hr.

The Marketing Intern plays a key role in supporting Tailwind Group's corporate brand and property-level marketing initiatives. This position offers a hands-on opportunity to contribute to campaign development, graphic design projects, recruitment marketing, and social media storytelling across the student housing portfolio. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with the Brand Experience Manager, Graphic Design Manager, and property teams to develop engaging content, support brand partnerships, analyze performance metrics, and bring fresh student-driven insight into marketing initiatives. This role is designed to provide meaningful ownership of projects while gaining valuable experience in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment.


Responsibilities & Duties

  • Assist in the designing of marketing material, including flyers and social media graphics, to support monthly marketing campaigns.
  • Assist in the development and execution of property marketing calendars and resident experience campaigns.
  • Support brand initiatives including national campaigns such as Recess Back to School and other portfolio-wide activations.
  • Assist with recruitment initiatives and student engagement programs.
  • Own select social media campaigns from concept to execution.
  • Create recruitment-focused content including employee interviews and culture storytelling.
  • Design trendy, on-brand social media templates, story backgrounds, and content resources for property teams in collaboration with the marketing team.
  • Assist in planning and promoting monthly events and brand activations templates.
  • Monitor and audit property social media accounts to ensure accurate brand messaging and identify areas for improvement.
  • Create and maintain monthly social media templates.
  • Conduct competitor audits across markets and identify trends driving engagement and leasing success.
  • Research emerging social media trends, tools, and student behavior insights.
  • Compile campaign performance summaries and assist in translating data into actionable recommendations.
  • Perform other duties as directed by the Brand Experience Manager.

Requirements

  • Working towards a degree in Marketing, Digital Communications, Graphic Design, or a related field.
  • Must be a rising junior, senior, or recent graduate at time of internship.
  • Strong interest in branding, social media marketing, and student housing.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

  • Demonstrated ability to work in a growing, fast-paced environment managing multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Proficient in Canva and/or Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, etc)
  • Proficient in using and creating content for social media platforms such as, Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, and LinkedIn.
  • Effective communication skills with the ability to present ideas, instructions, and information both written and verbally.
  • Ability to analyze performance data and identify opportunities for improvement.
