GENERAL INFORMATION

 

Position Title: School Age Care Child Care Program Assistant

 

Department/Building: District Wide - Baxter Elementary, Harrison Elementary, Nisswa Elementary, Riverside Elementary

 

Reports to: Childcare Site Supervisior and Childhood Coordinator

 

Schedule: Part-time, flexible hours

Compensation: Dependent on experience, hourly rate ranges from $14.71 to $16.01 per hour.
 

JOB GOAL/SUMMARY

 

This primary purpose of this position is to provide students with a safe, fun, and enriching out of

 

school time experience when they are in childcare. 

 

QUALIFICATIONS/EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

 
  • Age: Must be at least 16 years old.

  • Experience: Prefer at least one year of experience caring for children

  • Follow policies on confidentiality and mandated reporting

  •  Ability to mediate, problem solve, and redirect students in a positive way: motivate, support,

 

serve as a positive role model and be energetic, creative, active, and friendly

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 
  • Team with the Childcare Lead to assist in providing a safe, healthy, clean and inviting environment for school-age children 

 
  •  Work with Childcare Lead to research and plan daily activities

  • Participate in professional development meetings as scheduled 

  • Direct student supervision 

  • Develops effective working relationships with students

  • Support building and classroom discipline policy

  • Flexibility in work schedule as needed to meet childcare ratio requirements

  • Maintain good communication skills and cooperative working environment with other school staff.

  • Maintain knowledge of building procedures manual and school district policies 

  • The employee works cooperatively with the building administrators, accepting constructive feedback and direction. 

  • Disagreements with fellow employees are addressed constructively and respectfully 

  • Follows school district policy in reporting suspected abuse/neglect

  • Help children with toileting, diapering and cleanliness

  • Maintain open communication with the Childcare Site Supervisor and Childcare Coordinator 

  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Childcare Site Supervisor and Childcare Coordinator

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

 

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to:

 
  • Sit and stand for extended periods of time, reach with hands and arms, and stoop, kneel, crouch, bend, squat, crawl or push up to 30 pounds. 

  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distant vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception , and the ability to adjust focus.

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT

 

This position will be located in rooms with students at different elemetnary schools and will regularly interact with the Childcare Coordinator, Childcare Site Supervisor, district and program staff, public, parents/guardians of participating children, and children participating in programs.This is not intended to be all inclusive, other duties and responsibilities from time to time should be taken and carried out as part of your job duties and description in a positive supportive manner.
