Essential Job Duties
The Career Services Coordinator will enhance the career and professional development of CALS students through overseeing the CALS Alumni for Student Success (CASS) Career Coach program and providing programmatic support to all functions of the CALS Career Services office. The Coordinator's work will contribute to 4,500+ CALS students improving their career readiness, participating in experiential learning, and securing post-graduation opportunities aligning with their interests. The person in this position will report to the Director of CALS Career Services.
Primary Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Program Management
  • Serve as lead administrator for the CALS Alumni for Student Success (CASS) Career Coach program that pairs 100+ individual students with individual coaches for seven months of personalized career coaching.
  • Collaborate with the CALS Director of Alumni and Engagement and CALS departments to recruit alumni and industry professionals to serve as coaches.
  • Collaborate with CALS departments to recruit students to participate in the program and to match students with coaches.
  • Coordinate and facilitate program events, including trainings, networking opportunities, and celebrations.
  • Conduct program assessments and report outcomes to administration and stakeholders.

Event Management
  • Support the implementation of CALS Career Services events, including career fairs, networking events, trainings, and recognition events.
  • Develop comprehensive event plans and task timelines in collaboration with CALS Career Services team members.
  • Manage logistics for events both in advance and during the events.
  • Create and manage detailed event budgets, track expenditures in real-time, and identify cost-saving alternatives to ensure financial efficiency.
  • Collaborate with CALS Career Services team members and CALS Communications to market events to students, faculty, staff, employers, and other external stakeholders.
  • Conduct event outcome assessments and contribute to data-based decision making around future directions.

Programmatic Support
  • Assist with CALS Career Services programming as needed, including presenting career and professional development workshops.
  • Provide 2-3 hours per week of career coaching/counseling for current students and alumni within one year after graduation.
  • Support CALS Rural Works! program through data management and internship site visits.
  • Serve as a representative of CALS Career Services as needed.

Other Responsibilities
  • Other tasks and responsibilities may be assigned based on the needs of the organization and evolving priorities.

Qualifications
Minimum Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in relevant discipline, with a minimum of 2 years of related professional experience in higher education, program management, or event management

Other Required Qualifications
  • Ability to work with a high level of independence and autonomy while simultaneously functioning in a collaborative framework.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Excellent writing, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Event management - demonstrated ability to plan and coordinate targeted events and activities.
  • Technology expertise - demonstrated ability to use and learn technologies used in event planning, program management, and career services, such as Google suite, Zoom, Asana, Symplicity, and CRM systems.
  • Must be a creative, high-energy, and adaptable team player enthusiastic about supporting students in reaching their career goals.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in a relevant discipline, with 2+ years of experience in a higher education career services office.
