The job of a program manager is to plan, organize, and coordinate management programs or external programs for a business or institution. As a program manager, your duties vary depending on the type of organization for which you work, but many of the responsibilities for this role are similar or overlap. You typically supervise numerous associates and analysts who help prepare data and assessments about current programming and how it can be improved. SAFETY MANAGER - Day Shift: Responsible for planning, developing, communicating, and implementing safety, health, and security processes, programs and training. Provides technical and administrative direction on safety and health issues that aligns to overall company goals, operations, and key deliverables. Provides subject matter expertise and guidance to safety team and plant resources.

Experience developing, standardizing, and implementing safety and health programs
Experience with protein processing and/or poultry operations
Expert knowledge of Occupational Safety rules/regulations
Proven ability to guide and/or conduct safety audits and implement corrective action plans

Highly skilled at overseeing OSHA VPP or state equivalent programs
Excellent technology skills (i.e. Microsoft suite, video conferencing platforms, etc.)

Occupational Health and/or Safety accredited professional certification
Key Responsibilities:
Manages a team of entry to established level individual contributors and/or supervisors. Provides guidance, coaching, and support to ensure successful delivery of department goals. Responsible for HR activities such as hiring, terminations, performance management, goal setting, team member development, scheduling, etc.
Enforces and meaningfully contributes to the development of health, safety, and security systems, processes, and procedures. Participates in strategic planning for the function.
Supports culture of Safety First and continuous improvement of safety performance including sharing of best practices, communication of safety advisories, and standardized training.
Monitors and supports compliance with applicable federal, state, and local requirements (including codes, regulations, laws) and company policies and standards governing safety.
Responsible for safety audit program(s) by evaluating plant operations against established audit protocols and maintaining required safety documentation. Guides and/or participates in safety audits for processing plant operations and assists with the development and implementation of corrective action plans.
Evaluates, interprets, and utilizes data from safety hazard assessments and develop and implement effective and sustainable hazard control practices and programs.
Serves as subject matter expert and renders guidance to facilities for participation or preparation for the OSHA Voluntary Protection Program (VPP) or North Carolina Department of Labor Carolina STAR program.
Compiles, evaluates, and interprets data from injuries and incidents to identify and implement safety processes that move the site towards continuous improvement of injury rates.
Assists in the investigation of incidents, ensures proper records are compiled, and assists in implementation of corrective actions as it relates to the incident to minimize reoccurrence.
Devises, oversees, and coordinates training programs or media which will increase proficiency in safe practices and promote safety and health consciousness.
Provides regular written reports, including injury statistics and drug screening information, as well as other safety and health related results and updates to relevant teams.
Acts as focal point with local community emergency response, health, and safety organizations and agencies, such as law enforcement, emergency response, fire department and Local Emergency Planning Committee.
Participates/attends industry related conferences, as requested

6+ years of relevant experience or the knowledge, skills, and abilities to succeed in the role

Physical Demands:
· While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be regularly required to stand, walk, sit, talk, hear, reach, bend, stoop, kneel, and use hands and fingers to operate equipment, computer, telephone, keyboard, and occasionally climb and lift to or about 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, color vision and the ability to adjust focus.
Working Conditions:
- Work will be performed in a variety of conditions. Occasionally in a climate-controlled office environment(s) and primarily in a manufacturing plant environment with varying conditions, such as cold areas, wet areas, warm areas, chemicals, and other site conditions.
- This position requires the individual to wear and work in personal protective equipment while in the manufacturing environment.
- The noise level of the office environment is usually moderate; the noise level in the manufacturing environment may exceed 85 DBA and require hearing protection.
- Occasional travel may be required.
