Job description

Senior Systems Engineering Manager- Defense Solutions
We are looking for a Senior Systems Engineering Manager to join our Santa Clarita, California facility and lead our Systems Engineering and Execution Leadership team to success.
In this crucial role in our organization, you will report to the Director of Engineering. We are looking for a highly enthusiastic engineering professional and leader who can set the vision for Systems Engineering and technical program execution excellence and strive towards achieving said vision through a well thought out plan. Strong leadership and systems engineering background, including exceptional communication skills are a must.
You will have responsibility for a systems engineering group that is responsible for the concept, design, and validation of embedded systems. Additionally, you will have a team of project engineers and IPT Leads responsible for driving technical, cost, and schedule performance on development programs. To do this you will plan, direct and manage all system engineering and program execution activities, and will provide guidance and development required to be effective and successful in such roles. Additionally, you will be responsible for maintaining and ensuring adherence to systems engineering standard and instill discipline for how we manage and drive execution to cost and schedule targets. Responsibility will also include estimating systems engineering work, staffing to meet business demands, tracking and managing performance, and driving employee engagement initiatives among others.

Salary Range: $165,700.00 - $220,900.00 per year plus bonus.

Your Challenge:
  • Influence and establish systems engineering best practices through solid design decisions, processes, and tools.
  • Influence and establish technical execution best practices
  • Estimate costs and submit bids for the department
  • Oversee and lead system architecture development and technical approach strategy
  • Perform personnel management functions - recruiting and hiring, , performance appraisals and performance management, staffing analysis, and employee development
  • Establish structure and task-oriented culture in the department centered around task completion to cost and schedule targets
  • Evaluate all available Engineering tools and needed resources for development and capability
  • Lead technical tiger teams towards resolution of technical challenges of varying degrees of difficulty

What You Bring
  • Experienced professional with demonstrated leadership experience, including 10+ year of engineering experience with at least 3+ years of engineering functional management experience.
  • Track record of producing results, meeting financial targets, and leading product development teams in a CAM, IPT Lead, or Program Management role.
  • Experienced presenter and communicator with prior experience as the primary technical interface to internal and external customers and executive leadership
  • Demonstrated leadership experience in a fast- paced development environment with multiple active programs at different stages of development
  • Experience in program phases from capture through development to sustainment
  • Experience in risk and opportunity analysis, tracking and mitigation
  • Actively engages, drives change to achieve execution excellence and solve critical problems
  • Demonstrated analytical and attention to details /skills.
  • Strong understanding of system design processes, including working to the industry-accepted Systems Engineering V
  • Experienced with deployed military electronics using COTS electronics (e.g. VPX)
  • Familiarity with the latest industry technologies, such as VPX, Gen 3 PCI Express, 40GE Ethernet, 40Gb Infiniband, USB 3.0, DDR, 4 memory, etc.
  • Well versed in the latest rugged/embedded technologies commonly utilized in the defense/aerospace industry
  • Proficient in DOORS for requirements management

Education
  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field (Electrical / Systems / Aerospace /Mechanical/Computer Science)
  • Master's degree in a technical field and/or MBA is highly preferred
