Job Description
This is a full-time position that reports to the Assistant Dean of International Programs & Partnerships (IPP) and will provide leadership and essential services to Haslam faculty-directed programming. The Senior Program Coordinator will serve as the primary liaison between HCB and external partners, the program financial manager, and develop programming alongside faculty and IPP leadership. They will contribute to the development of strategies and processes that support the college's emergent plan for internationalization. As a study abroad program leader, this position will exercise discretion and independent judgment in the implementation of risk management procedures. The incumbent will represent the college and university to domestic and foreign partners and foster institutional-level relationships. Additional responsibilities include supervision of student worker staff.
Responsibilities
International Program Management
• Manages Haslam's faculty-directed program portfolio to include strategy and processes development, contracting, recruitment activities, preparation of materials, and coordination of rosters. Serves as primary liaison between HCB and external partners.
• Manages contract, billing, and financial analysis of HCB faculty-directed programs.
• Oversee and continuously improve the essential pre-departure planning procedures for faculty-directed programs to prepare faculty and students for their time abroad, to include the safety and risk advisories and mitigation procedures.
• Oversee communications with other campus entities and program providers to ensure faculty-directed program and student details are communicated and any necessary tasks are effectively completed prior to departure. Ensures student post-acceptance materials are collected, complete, and reviewed to manage risk to students, faculty leaders, and the university.
• Supervise student worker staff to include hiring, scheduling, performance evaluations, and oversight of tasks and schedules.
• Serve as needed as a study abroad program leader ensuring a well-organized, safe, and academically-sound experience that contributes to the academic instruction of credit-bearing and non-credit-bearing courses.
• Manage and oversee an HCB curriculum audit to identify and evaluate international content to meet international program/course requirements to ensure program design supports students according to university and college curriculum guidelines.
• Analyze, evaluate, and collaborate with IPSA leadership for the addition/discontinuation of academic programs based on their appropriateness and academic fit with the HCB curriculum and standards.
Program Development and Analytics
• Collaborate with IPSA leadership in strategic development of new programs, proposals, training, logistics, etc. to meet student demands and continue to diversify program offers.
• Serve as a resource for faculty, staff and other offices regarding programs and policies. Engage in training and activities to retain professional expertise.
• Stay abreast of and seek out new opportunities both locally, nationally, and internationally for student funding as well as programmatic funding opportunities.
• Exercise sound judgment and discretion in the event of a crisis - both on and off-site - in the identification and implementation of the necessary actions to ensure student well-being and reduced institutional risk.
• Keep current in field standards and maintain active participation in professional organizations affiliated with international programs and study abroad.
• Maintain the accuracy and completeness of data on international programs and study abroad for inbound and outbound program applications and participants in the assigned region.
Advising and Program Advancement
• Independent student support for those intending and/or committed to faculty-led programming within the Haslam College of Business to guide them through any and all necessary academic and logistical processes.
• Individual and team academic advising during HCB freshman orientation to ensure a smooth transition in the first-year experience, to include appropriate course selection, the consideration of transferred and AP credit, as well as other student retention efforts.
• Represent the college and university to foreign/affiliate partners and at national/international conferences to foster institutional-level relationships, identify and coordinate curricular alignments, and foster a student pipeline for exchange and outbound mobility.
• Represent the IPSA office at campus events, conferences, and site visits.
Program Promotion/Marketing
• Responsible for the recruitment of students in person and through a variety of media.
• Manage the development of marketing/branding strategy and materials for HCB faculty-led programs and HCB-approved study abroad programs to include the commutation of curricular options specific to the business education. This includes the facilitation of campaign efforts and events to encourage students to study abroad, promote the importance of study abroad, and further the goals of the International Programs office.
• Oversees the planning of events, promotional activities, and implementing participant recognition/celebration programs.
• Supervises the accuracy and updating of faculty-directed international programs across various outlets and platforms.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
Education: Bachelor's Degree in relevant field
Experience:
  • At least three years of experience working in areas such as international education, student services, academic advising, international engagement, or a related field.
  • Work as graduate assistant or practicum/internship will count as 1/2-time experience.
  • Master's degree or completion within one semester, can substitute for one year of work experience.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
  • Working knowledge of higher education global programs, standards, requirements and practices.
  • Excellent organizational skills and demonstrated ability to prioritize and manage time effectively.
  • Demonstrated project management experience and skills.
  • Ability to exercise independent judgment and discretion while executing program goals, policies, and regulations.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with individuals from culturally diverse backgrounds.
  • Ability to interact with study abroad program representatives, faculty, and students in a professional manner with an understanding of protocol and confidentiality.
  • Demonstrated excellent written and oral formal/informal communication skills. Ability to communicate with international partners who are often non-native English speakers
  • Knowledge of financial, bookkeeping, and general accounting principles.
  • Knowledge of financial policies and procedures
  • Ability to work periodic evening and weekend hours
  • Ability to travel internationally

Education: Master's Degree in relevant field
Experience: Public speaking experience, proficiency in a foreign language, and experience living, working, and/or studying abroad preferred.
